Good Game Bad Game [vs Everton]

2
As with the game against Manchester United, I felt awful before this game. And, as with the game with Manchester United, I shouldn't have bothered. Rarely have Liverpool dominated with such ease at Goodison Park (61% of possession, the stats showed at the end) and really it was a game that could have been won by a bigger margin. Match Report: Everton 0 - 2 LiverpooL

0
Liverpool striker Fernando Torres shrugged off his Euro 2008 hangover to score twice to beat 10-man Everton in the 208th Merseyside derby.

The Spain international had managed just one goal all season before this match.

He got himself booked at Goodison Park, argued with referee Mike Riley about the heavy-handed treatment he was getting from Everton's defenders and then hit back where it hurts. Click to continue reading...

Torres 59' 63'

Just as promised: hands up, I was wrong. Liverpool deployed the 4-4-2, with Alonso for Mascherano because of injury the only deviation from my guess at a squad, and Liverpool leave Goodison two-nil winners thanks to the genius of Fernando Torres. Click to continue reading...

Anelka is not good enough

1
I have never been a fan of Nicolas Anelka so I know I am totally biased against him. Actually, that isn't totally true, when he was a teenager at Arsenal I was as impressed with him as was everybody else. It is since he left Arsenal that he has been such a disappointment. Watching Chelsea play against Manchester United on Sunday, I couldn't help but feel that Anelka looked totally out of place. Click to continue reading...

Premiership Prospectus 2008/9 -- Everton

1
2007/8 Review

Everton enjoyed another very good season under the stewardship of David Moyes, flirting with Champions League qualification for much of the campaign before finishing fifth. This was despite Everton allowing opponents more attempts on goal than they themselves created. The Toffees were able to overcome this imbalance thanks to some very sharp finishing from their strikers, dead ball prowess, and excellent goalkeeping from American Tim Howard. Everton 0-3 Portsmouth

1
Everton 0-3 Portsmouth

Ugh! what a fundamentally depressing afternoon. There was just something in the air at Goodison...there was no singing our cheering, instead just a constant hubbub as Evertonians digested the new signings and the cup draws.

Nothing went right for the blues, essentially we had the better of the first half but went in 2 goals down, we missed a penalty and you just knew it wasn't our day. Click to continue reading...

Arsenal TuÅŸ, Liverpool Devam Ediyor

Premier Lig'in ikinci haftasında Arsenal Fulham deplasmanında mağlup oldu. Wenger'in yeni neslinin zamana ihtiyacı var galiba. Click to continue reading...

Everton 2-3 Blackburn

Absolutely gutted about that but I can't really comment about the game 'cause I was down south at a family do...look at that midfield though. Arteta plus two defenders and a kid. Not strengthening the side during the close-season is little short of dereliction of duty. Click to continue reading...

Premier League: Andy Johnson ready to transfer to Fulham from Everton

2
Everton striker Andy Johnson is on the verge of a £12 million move to Fulham following a medical at Craven Cottage.

The 27-year-old has not travelled with the Everton squad to the United States on a pre-season tour and is about to become Fulham's record signing.

The money would allow Everton manager David Moyes to strengthen his squad and he is now likely to increase his efforts to sign Sporting Lisbon midfielder Joao Moutinho. Click to continue reading...

Kolo Toure Has Malaria

3
Just what we needed. The man I've been wanting to captain this team for the new season contracted malaria over the summer in the Ivory Coast. He was feeling a little weakness during the training camp in Austria and was taken to the hospital for a check up, and they discovered...wait for it...that he has contracted the deadly disease. Why we shouldn’t be too disappointed with the idea of Bobby Zamora

Here are the players who have scored ten goals or more - more than once - in the last three seasons: Frank Lampard 3 Ayegbeni Yakubu 3 Robbie Keane 3 Wayne Rooney 3 Darren Bent 2 Dimitr Berbatov 2 Didier Drogba 2 Steven Gerrard 2 Nicolas Anelka 2 Jermain Defoe 2 Thierry Henry 2 That's it.   I'm beginning to think that there really is no such thing as a consistent goalscorer for teams like us. Team Case Study: Everton

0
Apologies for the delay, but I have finally got around to making my first attempt at writing a case study. This time we will look at Everton, one of the top five clubs in English First Division/Premiership history.

After strong performance during the middle third of the season, Everton struggled near the end of the season and they finished 11 points behind Liverpool and 5 ahead of Villa (the next largest gap was Man City finishing 6 ahead of West Ham).
