It should have been Aston V…ela

12
Many believe that when you fall off, you gotta get back up. For us, that's really the only thing we can do. We can't keep on crying on what happened last Saturday, we have to look forward, and hopefully, so will Arsene Wenger who has to take important decisions to save something from a season [...] Click to continue reading...

Arsenal vs Manchester United, post-match thoughts: Title race is safe, but not all problems are solved

4
Regardless of the way you do it, a win over Manchester United during such a critical period of the season is special. Ironically enough, when we took a 1-0 lead, I didn't celebrate in the same way I did after the second goal, because I thought it wouldn't last long. The same happened last year [...] Click to continue reading...

Has Wenger finally understood Carlos Vela’s potential?

1
Suspensions, injuries and other worries will see us Gunners facing Manchester United with a depleted forward line. As I said days ago, this is Wenger's golden opportunity to make changes. As stubborn as he is, he would never relegate Van Persie and Adebayor on the bench when they are fit but maybe, now that he's [. Click to continue reading...

Almunia tips Carlos Vela to succeed

0
Arsenal goalkeeper Manuel Almunia believes Mexico's Carlos Vela can be the future of Arsenal's forward line, but also claims he is to be patient. He told Almunia told Mexican newspaper Esto: Carlos is a tremendous kid with innate technical qualities for football but it is difficult for youngsters at Arsenal. Click to continue reading...

Arsenal's defensive problem: Its not lack of height, its not being smart

0

Its difficult swallowing losses to Fulham and now Hull. Especially after that wonderful mid week dismantling of Sheffield Utd at the hands of the youngsters.

Admittedly the goals that sunk the Gunners were top notch. Almunia, even if he had morphed into a giant octopus with flailing tentacles, would have had a tough time keeping Geovanni and Daniel Cousin from the back of the net.

Thoughts on Hull City and the weekend

0

Coming out of the ground on Saturday I heard one disgruntled Arsenal fan behind me say "You know, if it were up to me I'd drop the whole fucking lot of them and play the kids on Tuesday".

Knee-jerk reactions to defeats like Saturday's are normal but it was easy to see where he was coming from.

The Kids Are Alright

4
Under the heated spotlight of the Premier League it's difficult to keep your head when all about you are losing theirs. It takes the stubborn resolve, perhaps even the arrogance, of a manager sure of his principals with unbreakable trust in his players.

Arsene Wenger spent little this summer, and has never had the financial power of Chelsea or Manchester United, yet is charged with the task of competing with such clubs for domestic and European honours every season. Click to continue reading...

Dont underestimate Hull City or it may bite us on the arse...

1
On paper a home game against Premiership newbies Hull City should an easy three points. But life isn't paper and the reality is that Hull will not come to the Emirates and lay down.

They have a manager in Phil Brown who is basically a Sam Allardyce clone. He will have seen the problems that Bolton caused us under Fat Sam and will try to replicate them. Click to continue reading...

Respect your juniors! They will outsmart you! (6-0 says it all!)

1
We had barely digested Saturday's match before it was time for another epic performance. This time Sheffield United were to be ridiculed by Arsenal's youngest team ever in the Carling Cup. The average age was merely 18 years and 6 months and the oldest player on Arsenal's side was Lukas Fabianski at the age of 23. Click to continue reading...

The Kids are Back in Town

0
Great news last night with the Gooner Kids putting six unanswered goals past Sheffield Utd. However, when you bear in mind that Gallas and Almunia practically double the average age of the rest of the first XI, and that Bendtner, Vela, Song, Ramsey and Djourou are already full internationals for their countries, its clear that these kids are a class act, and are very close in standard to the Click to continue reading...

Bendtner And Vela Expected To Continue Strike Partnership

3
Arsene Wenger's Young guns face Sheffield United in the Carling Cup this Tuesday, with the youngsters and squad players expected to get a full 90 minutes. That means Nicklas Bendtner and Carlos Vela will most likely partner each other on the night. We saw their frightening partnership in pre-season against Burgenland, Stuttgart and Ajax and [. Should have won, could have lost but Arsenal save a point

0

Arsene Wenger felt a draw would be a good result against Kiev and given the circumstances I suppose it was.

A last-gasp equaliser from William Gallas salvaged a point but in truth we should have won that game. We had the chances in the first half to have made life much more comfortable for ourselves but failed to take them.

LiveBlog of Arsenal-Dynamo Kiev/Game thread

Good day folks. Thanks to my current unemployed status, I'll be following the match online (In Spanish) and bringing a blow by blow account of the action. Not sure how this will go, but feel free to leave thoughts in the comment section. Back soon with starting lineups.

Starting Lineups courtesy of BBC Sport:

Dynamo Kiev: Bogush, Betao, Diakhate, Mykhalyk, Nesmachniy, Vukojevic, Yussuf, Yeremenko, Aliev, Ninkovic, Bangoura.

Cesc is back, Wenger's cautious comments, and empty seats.

3
The second leg of our CL qualifier is tonight, and I think we've done enough in the tie to see ourselves through. I can't really see Twente scoring twice or more at the Grove, but then I don't want to tempt fate too much, given the perilous state of our defence in recent games.

If I was Arsene I'd be tempted to throw caution to the wind and let the youngsters have a run about. Click to continue reading...

Fulham 1-0 Arsenal - Match Report

11
Arsenal's second game of the season ended in defeat at the hands of Fulham.  A lifeless Arsenal display has left many questioning where the team is heading. Wenger made two changes to the team brining in Toure and van Persie for Djourou and Bendtner.  Vela did not make the bench as he only arrived back from [. Click to continue reading...

Arsenal-FC Twente Preview

3
Doomsday has arrived. At least that's what a lot of you seem to think, that the start of the season is a horrible time because Arsenal haven't strengthened enough and we'll never win another trophy. Personally though I'm really happy the real matches start tomorrow evening. We've got the 3rd round Champions League match versus FC Twente of the Dutch league, who are managed by Steve Mcclaren. Arsenal Sign New Manager!

4
Morning all. I have a very special announcement for you all today. Arsenal have decided that Arsene Wenger has no idea what he's doing, and they're moving on. They've found a new manager, and he's just what everyone has been hoping for. He's got a much better track record than Wenger, who of course only won three league titles and four FA Cups and is Arsenal's most successful manager ever. Click to continue reading...

Wilshere the talk of the tournament, but goals still seem to be a problem.

13
All in all, Arsenal outperformed both Juventus and Madrid in our two Emirates Cup matches. The difference in each game was merely a goal: Juve got a dodgy one in the first, and we got a pretty soft penalty in the second.

We played with pace and fluency, but still looked a little lost when we get to the box. Click to continue reading...

Arsenal Need A New Defender - Eduardo Returns

7
Hola. I'm writing this during half time of the Arsenal-Real Madrid match and it's still 0-0. Yesterday we lost 1-0 to Juventus on a goal that was CLEARLY offside by David Trezeguet. Referee is clearly in preseason form as well. I'm not going to bother with a match report but if you want to read one I'm sure you can find one somewhere. Click to continue reading...

Can we play you every week?

0

So now the team is back and training, we've got all the chatter that goes with it, and it's all positive stuff. Gallas, the captain, has staked his claim for remaining captain with an admission he could have done things differently last season (less crying and hoarding assaults would be a start). With all the other nonsense that has gone on this close season, and the departure of experienced players, I just can't see Wenger rocking the boat here.

Promise shown despite lapses

0
A poor Burgenland side were dispatched 10-2 with some ease by a rather talented young Arsenal XI. The quality of the football was high, and despite the game running out of steam in the second half, there were several very big positives to take from the game. Bendtner bagged four to Vela's hat trick, Wilshere a brace and Walcott a single strike. Click to continue reading...

Arsenal vs Burgenland Starting Lineups

4
Morning all. Today's friendly against Burgenland starts in about 20 minutes and I've just gotten the starting lineups. Not many changes from the last match really, but Theo drops to the bench. Still no sign of Nasri, RvP, Ade, and the rest.

Almunia
Sagna-Hoyte-Hoyte-Clichy
Wilshere-Ramsey-Denilson-Traore
Vela
Bendtner

So another look at Wilshere, Ramsey, and Vela which should be good. Click to continue reading...

Theo Walcott is ready..........

4
This coming season I believe that Theo Walcott will show the reason Le Boss signed him. It has taken him a while to settle with Arsenal but for me he is finally ready.

He hasn't set the world on fire at the Emirates. He seems to blow hot and cold and can sometimes be a little frustrating to watch. Click to continue reading...

Arsenal draw 2nd pre-season friendly 1-1, goal from Walcott setup by Bendtner

2
The 12-minute highlights of Arsenal's draw away to Szombathelyi Haladas were a bit on the drab side, which should come as no surprise to any sane person, but came as a bit of a let down for me.

Nicholas Bendtner continues his run up front. Wilshere got a start after his good performance in the first friendly. Click to continue reading...

Szombathelyi H. v Arsenal Match Preview

2
Morning all. It's hard to write up match previews for these friendlies because there isn't shite for news before them. You can't find starting lineups, you can't find anything on the other team, and the manager doesn't speak before them. But we're going to throw one out here anyway because I'm just that nice. Wenger Glad To Be Rid of Hleb

2
And it doesn't sound like he gives a toss about him leaving either. Hleb was unveiled at Barcelona yesterday formally, and I'm happy to see him go. As I said yesterday I think Nasri, Walcott, Vela, and Rosicky (if healthy) are all better assets to have on the wing than the Hlebanator. Arsene thanked him for his service but didn't seem too upset:

'We must firstly thank Alex for his contribution towards Arsenal during his time with us.

Xabi Alonso To Arsenal, Hleb Confirmed By Barca

5
Morning all, how's it going? I'm super so that's good. Let's get right down to it. Did you see AC Milan finally signed Ronaldinho? Imagine two years ago if Ronaldinho and Kaka were in the same squad. How unfair would that have been? Now that Ronny has fallen off a bit though it's not as daunting. Click to continue reading...

The squad starts to take shape, but is still too shallow.

0
A long time since my last post, and not much has actually occurred.

Let's summarise events:

* Adebayor hasn't moved anywhere, despite skulking round the Nou Camp/ San Siro for the last month wearing a 'please, please, please buy me, i'm easy' shirt on. He definitely wants to leave, let's get that clear. Click to continue reading...

Arsenal Football Club have today confirmed the official Squad numbers for the next season.
