WCR Top 25 Clubs in the World - Last Week Before All Hell Breaks Loose Edition

2

After this week, the WCR Top 25 will go through its most radical change of the season.  The reason for this is that until each club in a given domestic league has played five matches, the prior season's results are factored in to preserve some sense of continuity and to give the new season time to mature.

WCR Weekend Soccer Television Schedule - 20/21 September

1
It's been a tough stretch for Manchester United. After going to Liverpool (and losing) and going to Spain (and tying), the past WCR Top 25 Number One Club has to go to London to face the current WCR Top 25 Number One Club, Chelsea. Their challenge is our pleasure, however, as we get to watch the match on Sunday morning. Click to continue reading...

CONCACAF Champions League Preview

Well as I sit here watching both Chelsea and Liverpool beating on their French opponents in the UEFA Champions League, I must point out that over here in North America the group stage of our own Champions League is starting tonight. After both the New England Revolution and Chivas USA were eliminated in qualifying the only MLS teams left are DC United and the Houston Dynamo. Click to continue reading...

CONCACAF Champions League: Group B Preview

0
Ricardo Ferretti's UNAM Pumas Squad should win Group B/photo from Goal.com Earlier today we previewed Group A, likely the toughest group in the Champions league. This group could quite possibly be the softest. Pumas currently sits atop the table in the Mexican Apertura, and Dante Lopez, one of the few non Mexicans in the side has [. Move Around To The Side Of It News

3
A terribly embarrassing night for MLS in the CONCACAF Champions League. New England was assaulted 0-4 at home by Joe Public, and Chivas USA was held 1-1 at home by Tauro. It was really ugly, especially at Foxborough. There will be a lot of excuses flying today. And they all fall short of those scorelines. Click to continue reading...

CONCACAF Champions League play-in round draw

0
Sign me up for this. This sounds FREAKING AWESOME.

I mean, you get 4 MLS teams, 4 Mexican teams, 1 (maybe TWO) USL First Division teams and a handful from the Caribbean and Central America and what you get is WIN.

The preliminary round draw is now set, with the 8 winners moving through to play the 8 teams who already qualify for the group stage. Click to continue reading...

Cancun's Atlante Wins Mexican Championships

5
Atlante won the Mexican Apertura championships thanks to a 2-1 win tonight against UNAM Pumas in the final leg of the home-and-away final series. The Cancun side clinched the game in the 86th minute on a Golazo from Clemente Ovalle. The 25 year old defender struck the ball from about 20 meters, sending it off the underside of the bar. First Leg Of Mexican League Final Ends Scoreless

3
The first leg of the Apertura gran final between Mexico City's UNAM Pumas and Cancun's Atlante ended in a scoreless draw at Estadio Olimpico last night. The underdog home side dominated most of the run of play and had more--and better--chances but were unable to capitalize. Atlante's goalkeeper Federico Vilar was probably the man of the match, stepping in with several key saves, especially in the second half when Pumas seemed to be cutting off all of Atlante's escape routes. Methadone Report: From the Mexican Primera to the EPL

I tasted a little off-season methadone over the weekend and, in spite of pulling the equivalent of walking in at the middle of a movie, enjoyed it well enough. It wasn't all sunshine, however, as I'll explain below, but it's going to work...I just know it. And while I'm watching 'em, I may as well [.
