Gameweek 3 – No Caps, No Trainers

0

With Manchester United losing out to Zenit St. Petersberg in the little-seen UEFA Super Cup on Friday night, the stage was set for the two big boys with 100% records, Chelsea and Liverpool, to already open a bit of a gap ahead of the current Premier League champions.

Tuncay's winner five minutes from time is all the difference as Middlesbrough win at the Riverside 2-1.

First off it must be said that Middlesbrough were pushed to the limit. Despite being a man down for seventy minutes (if you add both first and second half stoppage time), Stoke City were resolute at the back, but two breakdowns proved to be all the difference in this one.

Warning Signs For Liverpool Despite Injury Time Winner Against Boro

If Liverpool fans have dreams of winning the Premier League this season, they can kiss them goodbye. Today at Anfield, Liverpool escaped with a 2-1 win over Middlesbrough with a woeful performance that was rescued by an own goal and then an injury time goal by Steven Gerrard. This was a cruel blow to Middlesbrough who [. Click to continue reading...

Premier League Preview: Liverpool vs. Middlesbrough

2
Both sides come into this game hungry for another Premier League victory in order to maintain perfect starts to the season. Last week Liverpool lacked sharpness and struggled against Roy Keane's lively Sunderland side. A moment of Fernando Torres magic snatched Liverpool a victory late on but Rafael Benitez will certainly demand more from his men this weekend. Click to continue reading...

Middlesbrough Dazzles With Opening Day Premier League Performance

1
The most impressive side I watched, by far, on Saturday was Middlesbrough. The link-up play between Tuncay, Alves, Downing, Aliadiere and, later, Mido was sensational. Wheater was also impressive. At times, it was like watching Brazil with all of the backheels and blistering attacks. Seriously. While Spurs controlled a lot of the possession in this match [. Click to continue reading...

L'elisir del gol all'ultimo secondo

Vince l'imponderabile tra Turchia e Croazia. Se fosse stato un altro sport avrebbe vinto la Croazia ai punti, ma trattandosi di calcio alla fine ha vinto la squadra dell'imperatore Therim.

Euro 2008 Croatia v Turkey Preview & Prediction

2
First of all, let me say what a super performance Germany gave last night. They tactically outclassed Portugal from the get go and thoroughly deserved their win. Anyway, enough of yesterday, now for today's big clash. Before yesterday, I'd have put my house on Croatia winning this game, now I'm not so sure I don't [. Click to continue reading...

Indomitable Turks stun Euro 2008

3

Andy Gray said "This is the best I have seen seen Turkey play." Me thinks he held back a bit. It would not have been awry if he had said that this was the best any team could have played. In the second half the sea of red breached the white shores time and time again. The 25,000 Turkish fans raining down Turkiye Turkiye provided a lifeline to their players, and not even Jaroslav Plaisil's goal could snuff out what now looks like destiny.

Matches worth watching this week: Romania vs Turkey

1
For some reason, this match screams barn burner, probably because neither squad can really afford to lose a player to injury if they want to qualify for Euro '08. Turkey is usually always a fun team to watch and it will be played in Bucharest, which should give the slightly injury depleted Romanians some added incentive.

For Romania, they'll have their two most famous players in the line-up, Fiorentina's Adrian Mutu and Inter's Christian Chivu. Click to continue reading...
