Tony's Take: The big four-o

There's an old saying in MLS, "If you're not better than the MetroStars, you don't belong in the playoffs." Technically, that would apply to the Red Bulls right now, and technically that's not really an old MLS saying. But maybe it should be.

Tony's Take: Seizing the Day

Prior to D.C. United's victory over the Colorado Rapids I honestly predicted the final score to be, D.C. United 3 – Colorado 0. Now, it's true that I always predict that D.C. United will win 3-0, but for the first time since August 5th of last season I was correct. I owe it all to Quavas Kirk.

Everybody pretty much agrees that the regular season in MLS is a little bit long. There are so many ups and downs that it's difficult to maintain maximum focus every time you step on the field. In short, there are very few (if any) critical regular season MLS matches played in August: except maybe for this past weekend at R.

Tony's Take: Morenology

During the 2004 season, D.C. United played a game late in the season in Columbus which they lost 1-0. At the end of the game Jaime Moreno had a chance to save a point for D.C. with a diving header. Jon Busch made a great reflex save to preserve the points for the Crew. At the hotel after the game I saw Jaime and I told him what a great effort the header was and I couldn't believe that Busch saved it.
