Hildebrand ya no es del Valencia

0
Click to continue reading...

die Tabelle lügt nicht: Week 5 (Now w/ the Bundesliga XI)

1
Here's this week's Bundesliga XI. It is packed with Bayer 04, Hoffenheim and Werder players. It does include a special shoutout to the man who ended Energie's goal drought, an under appreciated defender from Arminia and a goalkeeper who lost. 1. Schalke 04 Now 10 of their last 13 have been scored by defenders. Click to continue reading...

Almeria Thoughts

1

I didn't watch the Valencia-Almeria match yesterday as the game wasn't shown here in the United States. So instead of reveling in our 2-2 draw against Unai Emery's former squad, I was treated to the New England Patriots pasting my New York Jets (the Levante of the National Football League) with a quarterback who hadn't started since high school .

Poor Timo

9

You have to feel somewhat for German goal keeper Timo Hildebrand.

He came here last season to replace a Valencia legend and resident diva, Santiago 'Night Club' Cañizares.

He's in a strange country, full of strange customs and odd foods. He was expected to lead the new 'Renaissance of Valencia' under coach QQ Sanchez Flores and then Ronald Koeman.

First Game in the Books

0

As first games go, this is about as good as you can get.

Valencia crushed Real Mallorca 3-0 at the Mestalla on Saturday night in the opening match of the new season. If you compare this to last season's shenanigans, a 3-0 defeat to Villarreal, we're doing ok.

The Basque Kevin Costner Unai Emery (I hear Gol TV used that line in their game commentary?

Real Madrid Start The Spanish Season In Style

2
(First half highlights above, second half after the jump.) It was "only" the Super Cup, but it's impossible not to think of this as a demoralizing, crushing blow for Valencia, and as a warning served to the rest of La Liga from Real Madrid. Yes, they've won the last two titles, but this was an absolutely [. Click to continue reading...

Jens Lehmann To Play For Gunners, Or Play Somewhere Else

2
Might we see Jens Lehmann in the German second division? Following German national team coach Joachim Loew's remarks that Lehmann will have difficulty staying ahead of Timo Hildebrand and Robert Enke without regular play, Lehmann has said that "Given what the Germany coach says, I will have to see how things are in December... The Bundesliga is always attractive and is an option, and maybe the German second division is too. Click to continue reading...

The Jens Lehmann Defense League

0
I don't think anyone would argue that Jens Lehmann's ego is in danger of deflating, but after posting a critical look at Lehmann's recent demeanor I happened to stumble upon a Live Journal site devoted to the defense of Jens Lehmann, so aptly named The Jens Lehmann Defense League. Basically, this community watches the German papers and English news and then delivers their personalized counter arguments, some of which I must say are weak. Click to continue reading...

Stuttgart to move for another striker

0
Newly-crowned Bundesliga champions VfB Stuttgart are looking to strengthen their forward line ahead of the coming season. They've allowed Jon Dahl Tomasson to make his loan from Stuttgart to Villarreal a permanent deal after the two clubs reached an agreement on a fee. Stuttgart's Swiss striker, Marco Streller, looks set for a move to Nurnberg, while forwards Benjamin Lauth and Daniel Ljubola don't appear to have a future at the club. Click to continue reading...
