The running blog woke up just in time to see Nigeria score. Now the African team looks confident and is playing some dominant soccer.

U.S. Olympic team falls, 1-0, to Cameroon

The U.S. men's Olympic team fell, 1-0, to Cameroon on Sunday in Hong Kong. A first-half penalty kick goal proved to be the difference for the Africans.

Here is the lineup the Americans trotted out against Cameroon:

US 0-1 Cameroon: Post Match Thoughts

Across the internet I see the panic button being pushed after this match. Sure both the performance and result were not encouraging, but the back line thought to be the weakness of this side when the squad was named over two weeks ago now looks like a rock at the back entering the Olympic Games.

In the opening forty five minutes, Sacha Kljestan and Stuart Holden were both poor out wide as was Michael Bradley in the middle and Jozy Altidore up top.

Brescia, Racing Santander Agree to Terms on Szetela

It appears American Danny Szetela will be staying at Serie B side Brescia a bit longer. According to the Corriere Dello Sport, the club has agreed to terms to buy the previously loaned New Jersey native although terms have not been made public. The midfielder made 10 appearances for Brescia last season and now looks primed to earn more playing time in the coming season. Click to continue reading...

Racing Santander is still looking to dish off American midfielder Danny Szetela since he does not fit into new coach Juan Ramon Lopez Muniz' plans. He was loaned to Brescia of Italy's Serie B last year where he made 9 appearances. Brescia: Probably Won't Pick Up Option on Danny Szetela?

As most fans may recall, American midfielder Danny Szetela signed for Spanish Primera side Racing Santander in 2007 and was loaned to Brescia of Italy's Serie B last year. Part of the loan deal was that Brescia has the opportunity to buy Szetela provided they pick up that option by June 30th. Current indications out of Brescia, where Szetela made 9 decent appearances this past spring, are that the club will send him back to Spain. Click to continue reading...
