Carlos Alberto Banned For A Little Slap & Tickle

0
Well, at least the slap, and it looks like a little tickle is attempted, making it as good a theory as any. Carlos Alberto, enfant terrible for Werder Bremen currently on loan to Botafogo, was banned eight games (8!) for inappropriate activities with an opponent's bottom. And not "I'm going to teach you a lesson" [. Click to continue reading...

Was Thursday the worst day in Red Bulls/MetroStars history?

5

As far as nightmares go, Thursday has to be about as scary a day as any Red Bulls fan could have imagined.

With the Red Bulls struggling for their playoff lives, the team's starting goalkeeper and best defender are suspended for the rest of the season (and part of next season).

Stadium Brawl In Swiss Cup Competition

0
When one thinks of stadium wide fights and riots, Switzerland isn't exactly the first country which comes to mind. Especially not when it's between two amateur clubs in the round of 64. But that's what happened between Wacker Granges and FC Alle on Saturday, resulting in lots of fines, suspensions and the complete removal of [. Click to continue reading...

Chelsea Defender Gets 12 Month Ban For Spitting

1
Don't worry Chelsea fans, it's not John Terry. But it is a defender with the potential to partner Terry in seasons to come: young Serbian centre back Slobodan Rajković. In 2005 Chelsea valued the then 16 year old Rajković highly enough to pay OFK Beograd €5.2m for his services. A record for a player aged under [. Click to continue reading...

Pierre Wome Is A Bad, Bad Boy

0
Cologne defender/epic journeyman Pierre Wome is about to be in some really big trouble. At the end of this weekend's game against Wolfsburg, Pierre threw what looks to have been a quite intentional elbow at Ashkan Dejagah (4:08 mark above) that is now under investigation by those who take care of these matters in the [. MLS Fined Blanco For Open Cup Incident

3
As we all know, yesterday the USSF suspended Chicago Fire midfielder Cuauhtemoc Blanco for his behavior during a U.S. Open Cup match against D.C. United on July 8. Today the league took it's turn, as they fined the DP midfielder. The cost to Blanco's fat wallet, a mere $7,500. Yeah. A freakin' joke if you ask me. Click to continue reading...

Eddie Robinson Suspended

0
Ives Galarcep and Hillcrest Road have the story, Houston defender, Eddie Robinson has been suspended 3 games and fined $1000 for the elbow that he landed on Tyson Wahl in the second half of the game against Houston last Saturday. Robinson deserves at least that much for the cheap shot on Wahl. Watch the elbow again in the video below from youtube. Click to continue reading...

Suspend Eddie Robinson

1
So I missed seeing this live, and without HDNet, I wasn't able to DVR the game. Someone, though, has gotten Eddie Robinson's cheap shot elbow on Tyson Wahl up on youtube. Before the ball is even played in Robinson clocks Wahl with an elbow, right to the face. Hopefully the league disciplinary office has seen the replay of this game and will be contacting Mr. Click to continue reading...

Morning Ticker: Arsenal-Liverpool draw, Fenerbahce wins and MLS lays down the law

2

Good morning everybody. It is the day after the first leg of the UEFA Champions League and if you're like me, you're going through a little UCL withdrawal.

If you are an MLS fan you are probably asking yourself how it is that two of the best teams in MLS can't score a single goal in the first legs of their CONCACAF Champions Cup series.

Suspensions Are Not News

4
If your child decides to mouth off to a referee and ends up being suspended for a few matches, don't go whining to the papers about how unfairly your child is being treated. It just lets the world know that your kid is a brat. Players who insult or curse at referees deserve to get [...] SHARETHIS.addEntry({ title: "Suspensions Are Not News", url: "http://onthepitch. Clark Suspension Debate

4
As we all know by now Ricardo Clark received a hefty fine (10k) and a lengthy suspension for his kick to Carlos Ruiz in last Sunday's contest between the Dynamo and the Hoops. First off the suspension and the fine is justifiable to a degree. MLS Commissioner Don Garber is taking a page out of the [...] Click to continue reading...

Fines, Suspensions Handed Down from League

4
The results of what was said and done during the KC-Colorado game a few weeks ago have finally been made known by the league. The biggest news, is that Mehdi Ballouchy is getting a 2 game suspension and a $1000 fine for his high elbow on Sasha Victorine right at half time of the match. Honestly I'm disappointed that it was only 2 games. Andy Herron was given a four game suspension for a similar elbow to New England's Jay Heaps earlier this season. Click to continue reading...

Dodo suspended for doping

1
The second exam confirmed what the first had already showed, and Botafogo forward Dodo was preventively suspended on Monday for doping. His initial suspension is for 30 days. An urine sample collected after the match against Vasco showed the presence of an illegal substance commonly found in certain drugs used for dieting and quick loss of weight. Dodo scored two goals in that match, won 4-0 by Botafogo. Click to continue reading...
