Tuesday's Column: MLS Needs a Lesson in Scheduling

1

After spending the weekend watching as a fan (I was on vacation last week and skipped a home Galaxy game for the first time this season) rather than a journalist, it's clear to me that if there are many more repeats of last weekend and I didn't get paid to do this I would have to question my devotion to the league.

Don’t Let The Door Hit You….

2
This week brought about what I hope is the final transfer (for this window) for Tottenham. I don't wanna give it more energy than needed, so this will be brief. Dimitar Berbatovis now a member of Manchester United. This coming after months and moths of complaining to the suits at White Heart Lane, his teammates and [. Click to continue reading...

Seven Subs: Great for Football

0
The suits of the English Premier League are constantly thinking of ways to make the sport and the league better, and this summer two major changes were implemented. First, the FA chose to introduce a special "respect" campaign which will (hypothetically) eliminate abuse of match officials. The second change, and the more effective one, allows [. 1
First came news that Newcastle owner Mike Ashley was scrimping over the suits of his players, making them pick up the tab for their sartorial needs. Next came word that Ashley hadn't completed his due diligence and so was completely unaware that his team still owed instalments on several ... Click to continue reading...

Argo's and TFC to both play at BMO?

1
Here's a rumour that just won't go away. Talk of Toronto's CFL franchise moving digs from the stadium that they can't fill to something slightly slimmer is nothing new and would of course be ridiculous - Argo's suits likely enamoured with the idea that a stadium can indeed be filled with 'football' fans. The bid is in …

1

"Further to media reports, Chelsea Football Club can confirm we have made an offer to Real Madrid today (Thursday, August 7) for the transfer of Robinho."

Says a statement on the official Chelsea FC website. Short and sweet, eh? This ordeal, however, is certain to be anything but.

So we finally lodged a bid for the pint-sized Brazilian so true to Uncle Phil's heart.

Robbie Keane signs for Liverpool

0
After six years at Tottenham, Robbie Keane has completed his transfer to Liverpool, the club he supported as a youngster. It is a great move for Keane who will play Champions League football and should be a great move for Liverpool who have bought an experienced and proven striker. The fee of nineteen million pounds is high but in the light of other recent moves, would seem to be about right. Click to continue reading...

Midseason form

Russia has been nearly unstoppable in Euro 2008. Since losing to Spain 4-1 in the opener, Guus Hiddink's team has ripped off three consecutive wins, each more convincing than the last.

Who is Steve Kean, and why is Chelsea interested?

6

BBC online is reporting that Chelsea are eyeing Steve Kean for a possible senior coaching role at the club. Let me be the first to say: Who?

Kean, currently an assistant at Coventry City, has been the No. 2 to Cookie Coleman since his stoic days at Fulham. During his playing career Kean spent time with Celtic and in Portugal with Académica de Coimbra.
