Gameweek 15 – Mime

0

As is the way these days, Sunday seemed to be the focus of this weekend's action, with four pretty entertaining games taking place, including the two big derbies. We'll come back to the afternoon game in London later and instead start t'up north with the defending champions Manchester United.

Gameweek 14 – Mainline

0

Wow, what a boring weekend of football. The big-4 managed precisely zero goals between them, but take nothing away from Newcastle, Aston Villa and Fulham who all battled hard for their goalless draws.

Gameweek 13 – Hotter Than The Sun

0
Greetings team, and we are now officially over a third into the 2008/09 season! That's exciting isn't it? Everything is shaping up rather nicely though it has to be said, with a lot of expectations already subverted. As we currently stand there are just 10 points separating West Brom in 20th and Hull in 6th so a couple of wins back-to-back for anyone and things shift again dramatically. Gameweek 11 – The Fallen

0
Greetings faithful following and a somewhat delayed weekend review, as is becoming the custom these days unfortunately. But it is worth reading, I assure you!

Anyway, plenty of goals, shocks and last-minute drama this week as the league has been once again been given an all-mighty shake. We start as ever with the top dogs, and defending champions Manchester United appeared to be giving new boys Hull a lesson in class with an hour on the clock, leading 4 – 1, before the ever-spirited Tigers fought back to get within touch distance of an equaliser before the final whistle blew. Gameweek 9 and 10 – Duplex

1

Ok, so apologies faithful readership for not giving this weekend's action its own review, but with a full midweek program STT simply did not have the resources to cover both in anything approaching comprehensiveness. Anyway, in case you missed it, here is what happened Saturday and Sunday:

Chelsea finally lost their unbeaten home record of 86 games with a bit of a whimper to be honest, against a Liverpool side who played the game to perfection, with the midfield quartet particularly worthy of praise.

Gameweek 6 – Back Once Again for the Renegade Master

1

Yo yo yo yo yo! Blap blap blap blap blap! Etc etc. After a very very well deserved two week holiday, STT is finally back on your interwebz to bring you everything you need to know about football, and also some stuff you probably don't really care about.

Gameweek 2 – Disruption

0
Greetings faithful following, and welcome to a somewhat late review of this past Bank Holiday weekend's exciting action. Many factors (ok, one factor: beer) have delayed the writing of this wrap-up, but suffice to say that the editorial whip has been cracked and it will not be happening again. Gameweek 1 - The Start of Something Beautiful

0
Happy Monday and welcome to STT's first Premiership roundup on a weekend that saw 9 victories and just one draw. A host of new faces graced the league this week, with some excellent debuts, sopme suspect haircuts and some very hard to spell names.

I can't believe it's been over a year now since Sniffing the Touchline made the jump from a mind-map written in biro on the back of a fag packet to a fully functioning self-sufficient (almost) online multi-media node. Click to continue reading...

The Sniffers

1
Phew, it's been a looong nine months. Starting this self-facilitating media node all the way back in August, expectations were high but realistic. Obviously we knew we were good, but short of distracting our friends during their daily slice of accountancy/bespoke solutions/eco-war, the fear was that it would be difficult to break into the mass market. Gameweek 38 – ‘Revelation’

0

Happy Wedenesday loyal readers and thanks for sticking with us all the way to the end of our first full season; it's been hard work at times but we've got there. Anyway enough back-slapping, on with the vitals.

Manchester United were rightly crowned champions after beating Wigan, while Chelsea were held at home by Bolton.

Gameweek 37 – ‘Proximity’

0
Happy Tuesday then readers and hopefully a pleasant bank holiday was had by all. We face a final day showdown then to sort out almost everything next weekend, after Chelsea were able to match Manchester United's win at the top, and a Fulham victory heaped even more pressure on Birmingham and Reading who now occupy the final two relegation spots. Gameweek 36 – ‘Heatwave’

0
Happy Monday then faithful readership, and with just the two games left of the season, things continue to twist and turn both at the top of the pile and also down at the bottom. Chelsea heaped further pressure on Man United by beating them fairly comprehensively actually at Stamford Bridge and moving level on points with the defending champions. Click to continue reading...

PFA Awards

2
Unsurprisingly, Cristiano Ronaldo scooped the PFA Player of the Year award last night, and given the stats of his season, there's absolutely no way anyone can argue really. The Portuguese winger has continued his exponential rise into the history books, surpassing even last year's wondrous season as he closes in on 30 Premier League goals. Click to continue reading...

Gameweek 35 – ‘Touching Distance’

1

Happy Monday folks, and as May approaches things are all still pretty tight both at the top and bottom of the table. Manchester United left it very late at Ewood Park to save a point against a decent Blackburn side, while Arsenal and Chelsea stayed just about in touch with relatively easy wins over Reading and Everton respectively.

Gameweek 34 – ‘Aquarium’

1
Happy Monday folks and back in the saddle again. Obvious focal point this weekend was at Old Trafford where Manchester United all but sealed the title in a superlative showing against Arsenal, coming from behind to put the final nail in Arsene Wenger's season. Chelsea play tonight and can stay in touch, but this display of resolve has surely signaled their very real intent to capture another Premier League/Champions league double. Gameweek 33 – ‘Displacement’

0
Happy belated Tuesday then loyal readers, and apologies as ever for this delay of your usual Monday afternoon fix. Due to circumstances beyond STT's control, everything has had to take a backseat for the last couple of days but hopefully we are back in our stride now.

With just five games to go the title race took another twist this past weekend, with Manchester United uncharacteristically dropping points, but given the way Boro actually played, I think Ferguson would have been happy just to get anything from the game.

Gameweek 32 – ‘The Shape of Things to Come’

1

Happy Monday loyal readership and I think you'll all agree that God owes us an hour in bed today. Ever the professionals though, we at STT keep on trucking, whatever that means.

The title race continues to twist and turn but surely Manchester United must feel that it's theirs to lose now with a five point lead over Chelsea and a six point lead over Arsenal.

Gameweek 31 – ‘White Easter’

0

Happy Tuesday then readers, and I hope with the passing of Lent finally many forbidden fruits were indulged in over the long weekend. We'll get to Sunday's big-4 face-off in a sec but before that, Saturday's action, and a first league win for Kevin Keegan after an underwhelming start back at Newcastle to say the least.

Gameweek 30 – ‘Masquerade’

0
Happy Monday faithful readers and hope everyone is feeling nicely rested after the weekend's activities. Plenty to chew the fat over this week then as with just eight games to go for most teams, the various sub-leagues within the Prem have got tighter and tighter. At the top, battling wins for Manchester United and Chelsea away to relegation-fearing opposition poured enormous pressure on Arsenal to break their jinx of drawing games recently in the league. Gameweek 29 – ‘Business End’

0
Happy Thursday then readers and since a third of the week's games took place yesterday, we decided to save the weekend review till today for the sake of completeness.

The race for the title continues to remain interesting then, as following such glory in the San Siro midweek, Arsenal were unable to re-capture the same form against Wigan on an admittedly poor pitch.

Gameweek 28 – ‘Unstuck in Time’

1
Happy slightly-belated Tuesday then loyal readership, but much like a high-powered CEO who wishes to escape his constant decision-making and responsibility by paying an Amazonian dominatrix to order him about and spank him for two hours every week, we needed a break.

So there's definitely a race on for the Premier League crown this year, and make no mistake about the fact that it's very much a two horse race, with Manchester United and Arsenal vying for first place more explosively than a Mexican in a gang-bang.

Gameweek 27 – ‘There Will be Goals’

1

Happy Monday faithful readers, hopefully all is well in the world of water coolers and tea-making. A pretty exciting weekend of action then, albeit one that was marred by a tragic accident up at St Andrews which saw young Arsenal striker Eduardo severely injured after colliding with Blues defender Martin Taylor.

You love us, you really love us! Tremendous pats-on-the-back all round as today the SoccerLens' 2007 Blog winners were announced, and guess what? STT took home 3 Editor's Choice awards! That's right; nominated in 3 catagories, won 3 catagories!

We are also honored to have come 2nd in the Reader's vote for ‘Best Blog Name,' and 3rd in the Reader's vote for both ‘Best New Blog' and also ‘Best EPL Blog.

Gameweek 26 – ‘Remembrance’

R.I.P. Robert Bailey aka Stan, a good school-friend of ours who died one year ago last weekendHappy Tuesday, and once again we decided to wait an extra day to digest this weekend's action, while also taking in last night's clash at the Emirates for completeness' sake.

We start as ever at the top then, and all 4 big hitters seemed this week to struggle to really put anything together.

We Are Amazing

But don't just take my word for it. Those learned and perceptive fellows over at Soccerlens have clearly got good taste when it comes to football blogs and in their upcoming 2007 Awards, STT has been nominated for three gongs:

'Best EPL Blog'

'Best Blog Name'

‘Best New Blog'

Although facing reasonable competition is all three categories, STT is confident that with your diligent help, kind reader, we will have enough muscle to take home at least one of these prestigious prizes, if not all three.

Gameweek 25 – ‘No Country for Old Sven’

1
Happy Monday loyal readership and excuse the pretty lame pun in the title, it's been a long week. Please do go see No Country for Old Men at the cinema though, it's cracking. As is Cloverfield actually while we're at it; absorbing and seriously intense, you'll be surprised at how well the standard Godzilla formula has been flipped by Lost masterminds JJ Abrams and Drew Goddard. Gameweek 24 – ‘Trousers Down’

Happy Thursday then everyone, and just when STT thought it could enjoy a whole fortnight vacation from the weekly Premier League grind, up snuck a full midweek program to ruin our cryogenic rest. Focusing on WAGs for this past week has been so nice and one can only hope Sepp Blatter's dream of a women's football league full of busty blondes in bikinis comes true. Click to continue reading...

Gameweek 23 – ‘Hanging out the Back’

Happy Tuesday then everyone and an update a day later than usual. This is of course due to a desire to take in last night's game at Anfield and has nothing to do with the excesses of the weekend.

Anyway, pretty underwhelming set of games all round this week to be honest, with very little to get excited about.

Gameweek 22 – ‘I Am Champion’

1
Woot woot, happy Monday everyone and the Premier League table continues to evolve into one of the most interesting for some time with Manchester United once again sitting pretty at the top after a simply breath-taking showing late Saturday afternoon against the hapless Newcastle. By now I'm sure everyone's seen or heard about it so I won't waste your time waxing lyrical, but suffice to say they look better equipped than even 1999 to mount a serious Treble challenge at the moment. Gameweek 20 – ‘2008 Mindstate’

Happy almost-New-Year then party people, and what is almost certainly maybe our last post of 2007, our birth year if you will. It's all change at the top again, with West Ham securing a shock victory over Manchester United to leave the door open for their rivals to close the gap. Happy day-after-Boxing-Day then faithful readers, hopefully Santa brought everyone what they wanted, and being covered in family for three days wasn't too painful.
