Belgian Amusement Rides Are Dangerous

5
Standard de Liege youngsters Dieumerci Mbokani and Steven Defour went to a local fair to enjoy the amusement parks as young athletes with plenty of time on their hands are apt to do, and for some reason it was taped. Everything's butterflies and cupcakes and good times until Dieumerci leans over to Steven and the [. Click to continue reading...

UEFA Cup Draw Announced

2
Much of the press will go to Milan (this is the fourth story on the ESPN front page, not Soccernet) & the British clubs, but the more intriguing matchups are to be found elsewhere, and none has more potential than Group C. USA vs. Cuba, 23-man roster announced (10/11/08)

18
The USA announced their roster for the Cuba match, to be played at RFK Stadium on 10/11/08.  With advancement to the next round close to a sure thing, Bradley has taken a few more risks (well...I'd be happy to debate anyone on how "risky" they actually are) and called in some younger players.  I, for [. Everton’s New Signing: The Incredible £15m Unibrow

16
Even at Standard de Liege, Marouane Fellaini was probably making some decent scratch. Like enough to have that thing between his eyes taken care of professionally. Now that he's hit the limelight as Everton's record signing and the most expensive Belgian ever, he may want to bump it up the list. At least give it [. Click to continue reading...

Liverpool 1-0 Standard de Liege aet

6
Reina
Arbeloa Skrtel Carragher Aurelio
Kuyt Alonso Gerrard Benayoun
Torres Keane

Goals:
Kuyt 118'

These games are not doing my heart any good. Four games into the season, and the earliest goal Liverpool's scored has come in the 83rd minute. And Kuyt striking the winner after suffering a ton of stick makes it even sweeter. Click to continue reading...

Liverpool v Standard de Liege 08.27.08

2
3:05pm Eastern Time. Once again, I think US viewers are stuck looking for streams if they don't have lfc.tv's e-season ticket.

0-0 on aggregate.

Last 3 matches:
Liverpool: 2-1 Boro (h); 1-0 Sunderland (a); 0-0 Standard (a)
Standard: 3-0 KVC Westerlo (h); 3-1 Dender (a); 0-0 Liverpool (h)

Referee: Massimo Busacca (SUI)

Guess at a squad:
Reina
Arbeloa Carragher Skrtel Dossena
Kuyt Gerrard Alonso Benayoun
Keane Torres

Benitez has ruled out both Lucas and Mascherano, with this game coming too soon after their return from the Olympics, but hopes they'll be back for Sunday. Click to continue reading...

US roster for Guatemala

2
Here it is. Initially, don't see any big surprises. Of the Olympians, Bob Bradley chose to bring four along - Brad Guzan, Maurice Edu, Sacha Kljestan and Michael Bradley.

Also, it's not a surprise but still disappointed to see Brian Ching selected over Kenny Cooper. Knowing Bradley, he'd probably like to get Cooper in a friendly or two before calling him for a qualifier so I suppose that's why I'm not surprised. Click to continue reading...

Liverpool 0-0 Standard de Liege

2
Reina
Arbeloa Carragher Agger Dossena
Alonso Plessis
Kuyt Keane Benayoun
Torres

Let's hope it can't go anywhere but up.

I understand it's the first competitive game of the season. I understand Gerrard was out, that it was Keane and Dossena's first game, that Plessis is still a youngster, and that Agger is like a new signing. Click to continue reading...

Liverpool at Standard de Liege 08.13.08

3pm Eastern Time. As far as I can tell, it's not on TV in the States. Last year, the 3rd round of CL qualifying was on GolTV, but they're showing the Bayern Munich friendly tomorrow.

Referee: Tom Henning Ovrebo (NOR)

As YNWA.tv writes, this is weird, as Overbo was in charge of the friendly at Vålerenga last week. Click to continue reading...
