This And That

1

Work, and The Magazine, are requiring plenty of my time these days folks so I apologize for the lack of diversity on the site the past week or so. I love the High School game but there's more to be aware of and enjoy out there. I'll be back to normal programming next week, including a number of College Player updates.

Weekend Soccer Opportunities

6

If the weather cooperates (although I need to be inside finalizing the Magazine...) there are LOTS of opportunities to see some fine soccer this weekend.

I'm going to have to put a poll up one of these days because I think my High School soccer coverage is the most important item for the vast majority of you.

Tommy Tombridge Commits To Northwestern Wildcats

3

Springfield, and Springfield SC, has another representative in the Big 10. Goalkeeper Tommy Tombridge (Kickapoo 2009) verbally committed to the Wildcats a week ago, where he'll play for Head Coach Tim Lenahan at the campus on Lake Michigan, in the Chicago suburb of Evanston, IL.

Unlike many of the players I've talked to about their recruiting experience, playing college ball wasn't necessarily on his radar screen.

Missouri State Bears Boys Soccer Team Camps

0

That time of year again, the Team Camp just ended Friday and the Residential Camp begins today. I caught this shot of the save by Bryan Byars of Putnam City North (OK), home of Lance Pickens (Chivas USA/MSU Bears) and Chad Thompson (MSU defender) during the All-Star game. The save is against his HS teammate, Tyler Groh, with Tim Wallace of Washington (MO) in defense.

A Sunday Full of Opportunities

As I write this, I'm contemplating what a beautiful day it is and how much I'm looking forward to a short road trip. I'm headed down to document (and cheer on) the Springfield SC U23's as they open the Ozarks Challenge Cup, a home-and-away series they are playing against the NWA Lightning.
