Live Television is a Bitch

2
This is Jefferson Louis, a forward for Wrexham. Jefferson is the type of guy whose feet aren't connected to his brain. Or maybe they are and neither are quite good - he is in Conference North, after all. Well forgetting that whole live television thing, Jeffy slips and turns a regular sports broadcast into a [. Tony Limarzi is excited

A lot of folks have commented on the fact that Santino Quaranta's second half goal against Colorado over the weekend was not nominated for the Goal of the Week (but, Joe Vide's did!). Unfortunately, Saturday's game was only broadcast on Altitute Sports, who didn't put a camera behind the north goal (as team's normally do) and thus didn't have the best angle to view Santino's dipping, swerving shot.

ESPN has an even worse idea than subjecting us to Chris Connelly

From the Big Lead: We're hearing that for months now, ESPN has been trying to secure a host for a late-night TV show it has in the works. Yes, a late-night TV show not unlike Letterman or Leno, but obviously centered around sports with a dollop of entertainment. According to sources, three recognizable names have been approached [. Philly Releases Stadium Design

3
All I can say is, now this is a nice looking stadium. Keystone Sports and Entertainment LLC, the ownership group for the Major League Soccer Philadelphia expansion team, received the initial stadium designs from Rossetti Architects. And even though it looks similar to others around the league, I think this one will be fine and dandy [. Click to continue reading...

I get mail

1
So I know the majority of my readers are American, but I still want to post this email I got from a UK marketing firm. They are raising awareness for youth sporting initiatives in Britain by allowing people to vote for the initiative they want to receive funding.

I'm writing on behalf of Norwich Union who are working to help local sporting initiatives across Britain.

Piercy, Phelps, Phillies, Phantastic Phootball Phanatics … and of Course the USWNT … and Elvis!

2
First (from The Writer's Almanac), a wonderful poem by Marge Piercy to start your day with something introspective - before diving into the usual sports-centric deluge! This poem runs along the thought-path I was pursuing last night just before sleep. Guess it may be time to get reacquainted with myself . Click to continue reading...

Bruce Arena new Los Angeles Galaxy coach

0
Did I call it or what? I actually predicted that Bruce Arena would be the next coach for the Los Angeles Galaxy in an article earlier this week. As you can see from this article from Sports Illustrated it seems like that is actually the case. As I said earlier in the week, I think Bruce is the right choice for this team, but he has to be given a chance. Click to continue reading...

It's a quiet day if you ignore the words Dimitar Berbatov. But you can't ignore it today, because otherwise, there wouldn't be much to write about here. Hello, I'm Brandi Chastain and I have a lot to say

1
Don't you just hate it when you're broadcasting a game and the play-by-play announcer just keeps talking, and talking, and talking? I mean, I played in the Olympics, I won a gold medal, I won a World Cup, I was on the cover of Sports Illustrated, I'm kind of a big deal. I know what I'm talking about, so let me talk. Conrad on All Star Week, Celeb's and Some Hot Chick

I love tabloid tattle and gossip. Perhaps it was too much time spent reading The Daily Mail and The Sun on my daily commute when I lived in London. And no one does it nearly as good as the British; the only things they've ever been better at are playing long-ball and imperialism. And we know how both of those worked out. Thoughts from the Mezzanine …

0
... It was rainy, windy, chilly, and United were playing the Red Bulls. It would seem that all of those are, historically, factors that lead to a United win. But not Sunday afternoon at Giants Stadium - not against a Red Bulls team that simply needed to take advantage of United's mistakes at the back and [. Click to continue reading...

What I’ve seen so far at the Olympics

That was a proper choke by the US men's soccer team against Holland on Sunday. They wen't up by a goal and simply shut their brains off. Between Kljestan blowing the game-clinching goal and Bradley and Freddy's yellow cards and Holden's dumb foul and the wall jumping - we saw a young team simply gag [. Click to continue reading...
