Advertising with Premier League clubs

7
Football must be a pretty good way to advertise your company. We all know that Emirates sponsor Arsenal, AIG sponsor Manchester United, Samsung at Chelsea and Carlsberg at Liverpool. But did you know that Beko sponsor Watford or Fraser Eagle sponsor Accrington Stanley? Just how much money is to be made by sponsoring or advertising [. Click to continue reading...

What Is Happening To American Soccer On GolTV?

11
American Soccer, GolTV's weekly news and highlights show, aired its last show tonight, at least in its current incarnation. The show, which is arguably the best US-produced soccer show on television, is seeking a sponsor. Up until recently, US Navy sponsored the show, but now that their sponsorship has ended, it's hard to justify the show [. Click to continue reading...

Photo of the Day: These Ladies Will Remove Their Shirts if You Sponsor Them

300
Financial times are tough (just ask Man Utd's sponsor) so teams are having to come up with some creative ways of attracting money. And amateur German ladies team Meiendorfer SV are leading the way. The deal is that whoever sponsors the team gets all the usual sponsorship stuff (name on shirt, mentions on posters etc) but [. Click to continue reading...

Manchester United's shirts to now read, "USA" rather than "AIG"

2
I keed. I keed. But the dominoes falling on wall street have diverted my attention away from the game I love so much lately.

The failings in New York have been so unbelievably epic that it's hard not to pay attention, and I have yet to find how AIG's collapse and subsequent bail out by American taxpayers will impact their sponsorship of the Red Devils. Click to continue reading...

AIG shirts sponsorship for Man Utd next to go?

AIG sponsorship of Man Utd in jeopardy

AIG is in a financial mess and is asking the Feds to pony up a $40 billion loan to stave off credit agencies downgrading its stock which will bring it a step closer to bankruptcy or to the preferred takeover. With the Feds deciding against bailing out Lehman Brothers and leaving the company to file for bankruptcy, there is no sure bet that AIG's lifeline will be met.

Photo of the Day: Freddy Adu Unveiled at Monaco

6
Kid looks good in red right? Loads of sponsors on that jersey though; I know they are found of their auto racing in Monaco so perhaps the completely-out-of-control-sponsorship mentality has made the jump to the soccer world over there. I'm all for making that paper, but five logo's on the front of the kit is just a bit cluttered. Click to continue reading...

NBC Olympic Soccer Coverage

15

I'm getting my fix via the internet, not only in the game broadcast but the highlights obviously. Like this one - Men's Goals of the Day - August 7th or this one - Women's Goals of the Day - August 6th.

If you are interested in a look behind the curtain, then Adam Spangler at This Is American Soccer has the story as he interviews Michael Cohen, who overseas the production of Olympic soccer on the networks and cable channels and heads up the NBC Olympic soccer channel.

CCL Regulations Document: The Finances

1
I continue my summary of the Champions League R&R document by looking at the financial regulations, found in Sections 4 and 12. Basically, CONCACAF controls ALL revenue streams and intellectual property associated with the CCL (Sect. 4.14, 12.1). That includes, but is not limited to, advertising, sponsorship, merchandising and broadcast revenues. Click to continue reading...

Persitara in the Dark?

2
Good old Persitara, they have been good for a few stories recently. Some of which I even posted on here.

But the end could soon be nigh for the side from North Jakarta unless they can find some money by yesterday.

Of course how a club with no finances and no stadium could even enter the brave new world of professional football here is another story and one that is well rumoured but little written about. Click to continue reading...

Maybe CONCACAF will clue us in

0
So last week CONCACAF held a "Champions League Summit" with the participating teams, and it seems that they've made some progress with regulations, sponsorship, and other logistics. Perhaps they'll clue the rest of us on what kind of progress they've made. Who knows; it could inspire some confidence that CONCACAF might actually pull off this Champions League endeavor. So shall we take a look what's new at the Foxes' lair then girls?

Acorns on the Cob

According to rumours doing the rounds this week, Aston Villa are set to forgo the approximate windfall of £4million in shirt advertising next season, and instead use the space to promote Acorns children's charity. Just before Christmas last year, you might recall seeing several Villa players visiting the Acorns hospice in Birmingham to do some general bringing of cheer, and it seems that a strong relationship has been maintained ever since. Charlton Over Land and Sea: Sponsorship Red Tape means Addicks Overseas left with bitter sweet FA

At the end of my last article of last season I said "I'm signing off for the summer but I'll be back in August. Enjoy the break and see you at Scunthorpe".
