Che gioia!!

0

Liverpool agree Riera deal

5
Well, we wanted a winger, especially with Benayoun's sub-standard performances on the left in the past few games. Now Liverpool's close to finalizing a deal for Albert Riera, an out-and-out left winger, subject to a medical and agreeing personal terms. The Liverpool Echo reports the fee's "in excess of £8m," which is a steal compared to Espanyol's previous demand that any club meet Riera's buy-out clause, which is £16m. Una Juve rimaneggiata stasera in campo al San Paolo

0

‘Round and ‘Round It Goes… Where It Stops, Nobody Knows

1
It would appear Scott Carson's departure from Anfield, which has been assumed since last summer (albeit, then, to Villa) is finally on cusp of finally actually happening. Reports are that LFC have agreed upon a £4 million fee and the young 'keeper has ironed out personal terms with the newly promoted club. Click to continue reading...

Ranieri launches Juventus "The Title Is Not Taboo"

0

It's already time for Juventus to get together. Ranieri: "I am very satisfied with the transfers. We must be ambitious right from the Champions League qualifiers." Blanc: "Xabi Alonso? The midfielder is a 30 million investment. We need to assess him."

VINOVO (Turin), 4 July 2008 – Everyone concentrated on the league. Click to continue reading...

Juve Meet Alonso Reps In Paris

5
Juventus' bid to sign Xabi Alonso from Liverpool is no closer to being completed following a meeting between the two clubs in Paris.

The possibility of seeing the Spanish international in a Juve shirt next season is, at the moment, still a remote one.

Alonso is no closer to signing for the Old Lady after a meeting in Paris today between a FIFA agent and Rafa Benitez's transfer man, Eduardo Macia, yielded no agreement. Click to continue reading...

Sissoko to Juve

0
Well, the Sissoko move has been finalized.

Momo hasn't had the best season the few times he's seen the field, but it's with sadness that he completes this move.

And it is a good move for all involved.

He's currently fifth choice in central midfield, behind Gerrard, Masch, Alonso, and Lucas. Click to continue reading...

Liverpool vs Manchester United

2
In one of the many mouth-watering clashes of this weekend, Liverpool will play host as they square off with Manchester United on Sunday. Liverpool are coming off the back of a 4-0 thrashing of Marseille which should definitely boost their confidence but I don't think you can compare Manchester United to Marseille at the moment. On Gerrard, substitutions, and the derby

2
The biggest talking point following Saturday's match, outside of Mark Clattenburg, was the 71st minute substitution of Steven Gerrard for Lucas, who had yet to play a single minute of Premier League action.

In retrospect, it was the right move. The game was tied 1-1 when Gerrard exited. The game finished 2-1. Lucas was heavily involved, setting up an excellent chance for Voronin in the 77th minute, and taking the cool, composed shot in injury time that Phil Neville had to handle to prevent a goal. Today's Banter: Backlash from our first loss

2
As you probably would expect, most the news coming out of Anfield is about our 1-0 loss to Marseilles yesterday in Champions League play. What doesn't surprise me is that Rafa is not sharing his true opinion of the match. Why should he? There's no reason to give the English press more fodder to spin.

The only Benitez statement of remote truth that made print was him saying the Besiktas match in three weeks was now a must-win. Click to continue reading...

Liverpool 0, Marseilles 1

2
Ha ha ha, what a joke. Somebody got their fix on. Not to take anything away from Marseilles, but it took a wonder goal, three non-called handballs, and two very questionable yellow cards to beat us. Not to mention Crouch might as well have been wearing blue.

As a team we made some vast improvements in the second half and were really unlucky not to score. Click to continue reading...

Liverpool 0, Marseilles 0: halftime thoughts

1
Blah, blah, blah, same old crap. We look unmotivated, disorganized, are failing to use the flanks, and our spacing is horrid (especially Torres and Crouch).

First things first, someone needs to tell Crouch he's not a midfielder. If anyone should be playing that role, it's Torres. El Nino is much better on the ball and doesn't throw it away as much as Crouchy. Click to continue reading...

Liverpool 1, Wigan 0: Yossi plays, we win

2
I wonder if we'll hear any nonsense about Yossi not starting today as to why we barely pulled this one off. Probably not, I figure the memory vacuum will take care of all the Rafa rotation bashing. Anyhow, on to the match.

Wigan should be commended for a well-played, well-executed game plan. We were really lucky to come away with three points as they were the better side and missed a couple of relatively easy opportunities in front of the net. Click to continue reading...

Liverpool 1, Wigan 0: the goal

Here's Yossi phenomenal goal earlier today. The Israeli saved us from another embarassing draw. If this doesn't work, I'll post another later, because I'm having trouble with this site. Cheers.

Liverpool 0, Wigan 0:halftime thoughts

1
Well, I missed the first ten minutes of the match, but from what I've seen we're dangerous to score, well, at least Torres is. If he doesn't score in the second half or at least set up a goal, I'll be surprised.

As a team we seem to play well in brief stretches, but for the most part look like a bunch of unfocused eight-year-olds waiting for ice cream. Click to continue reading...

Liverpool vs Wigan: the line-up

Here it is:
Reina
Aurelio
Hyypia
Carragher
Arbeloa
Riise
Mascherano
Gerrard
Pennant
Kuyt
Torres

Subs:
Itandje
Benayoun
Sissoko
Finnan
Voronin

Once again, Rafa isn't messing around. I wonder how Voronin feels about the rotation now and really don't care how Crouch feels. Click to continue reading...

Liverpool 4, Reading 2

0
Two things happened early in the second half of this match that allowed Liverpool to play their game. First, we got an early goal on a well-played ball from Benayoun to Torres who beat Duberry and slotted it into side of the net past Federici. Then I guess the ref got tired of watching Reading turn the beautiful game into a pub brawl and started handing out the yellow cards. Click to continue reading...

Liverpool 1, Reading 1: halftime thoughts

0
You know, I understand the home side getting some calls, but this is simply shocking. First off, how Duberry and Bikey don't have cards is a mystery to me. Both have been making reckless tackles, pulling at shirts, and pushing players down left and right. How can the ref expect to maintain control of a match if he's allowing those two mongoloids to play American football while almost every time a Liverpool player runs into a Reading player, they get a foul called on them? Liverpool vs Reading: What will Rafa do?

1
Ah, these are the fun ones. Not necessarily to watch, though I hope this one is, but definitely fun to pick who Rafa will play. Before I get to that though, let me first offer an idea to any LFC website that has the funding to do so. How about having a 'pick Rafa's side' game? Seriously, I look forward to trying to pick out who Benitez will play more than anything else on my blog. Click to continue reading...

Liverpool 0, Birmingham 0: final thoughts

1
After viewing this match for the second time, with much less emotion involved since I knew the outcome, I have to say that the reason Liverpool did not get the three points is because most of the team, particularly up front, were mentally unprepared for this match while Birmingham seemed quite the opposite.

Kuyt was appalling and Voronin wasn't much better. Click to continue reading...

Liverpool 0, Birmingham 0: embarassing

1
Well, it looks like our old haunt of not being able to finish has returned. Kuyt couldn't kick the ball into the stands if he wanted to. All his tireless effort seem to just get him tired and I hate dogging on the kid, but gees, I feel like I'm watching Toronto FC out there at times.

This is the third straight match that I've disagreed with Rafa's selection. Click to continue reading...
