This is England

3
For anyone that's seen the film, you'll no what I'm on about, for those who haven't read on and I shall try to explain. This is 'good old' English football and it's not for 'jessies' as the grinning Shearer and Lawrenson love saying. This is 'good old' England where we just laugh as the reckless straight legged tackles fly, where we just get on with it as the tibias crack, where we don't see Click to continue reading...

England looking for a forward

1
Martin Samuel from the London Times writes about how England are lacking in quality forwards and I agree with him. Wayne Rooney can't carry the team upfront by himself, and he really does seem to be more of a setup man then an out and out finisher. With Michael Owen not being fit again, I think Fabio Capello needs to look at either Jermain Defoe or Darren Bent. Click to continue reading...

Fed Up

2
Is anyone else fed up with the speculation about Cristiano Ronaldo and whether he will leave the ManUre to go to Madrid?

Yes? Me too. So lets not talk about it.

Lets talk instead about last night's match.

I mean are those Italians spoilsports or what? Their style seemed to me to be characterised by a script along the lines of "We aren't actually going to put much effort into winning but we want to make sure you don't either". Click to continue reading...

BBC pundit chastised for enjoying EURO 2008

1
The BBC have controversially given Aston Villa manager and Raymond Domenech lookalike, Martin O'Neill a written warning for breaking British broadcasting guidelines and stating that EURO 2008 has been ‘bloody brilliant' without England's talentless, overhyped, leaden footed, retards stinking up the tournament. Blackburn’s hunt for a manager looks to be a two horse race; Ince or Allardyce?

0
Who would be the better choice for the Blackburn job? Now that Alan Shearer has politely excused himself and eased back into his relaxed BBC career, it looks to be a two-horse race between the young and talented Paul Guv'nor Ince and the old hand Sam Allardyce. Ince has done a brilliant job at [...] Click to continue reading...

Blackburn close to appointing Hughes replacement - Shearer the favourite

0
Well, maybe not the fans favourite but he's currently at the top of bookmakers' lists. While Blackburn might talk of not rushing to appoint a replacement for Mark Hughes, the truth is that they can't leave it very long at all, especially with player contracts to sort out and potential new signings to be lined [. Scratched record alert - Liverpool midfielder insists that they can challenge for title next season

4
I thought this was the season that Liverpool finally cast off their bridesmaid's dress and went head-to-head with the Chelseas and Manchester United's of this world for the Premier League title. Did I get that wrong? After all, early victories against the Premier League giants that are Aston Villa, Derby and Sunderland saw the likes [. Click to continue reading...

Celebrate good times! Former Arsenal striker leaves BBC

0
Here's something to cheer everyone up. The goon that is Ian Wright has officially left the BBC, leaving us (relatively) free of inane comments during televised England and FA Cup matches. To be fair, he stuck it out for a number of years with little to no talent, struggling to put a coherent sentence together [. Click to continue reading...

Shearer move to Newcastle still on?

1
The Daily Mail reckons (three words that will have readers wincing) that there is still a chance that Alan Shearer could still come to Newcastle United and work under Kevin Keegan. According to the Daily Mail Keegan has left the door wide open for Al, Keegan said: 'I've definitely not given up on it, [. Click to continue reading...

Classic England-Switzerland Moment - Alan Shearer opens the scoring at Euro 96

1
You can pinpoint the exact moment in this video when out-of-form misfiring striker Alan Shearer becomes national hero Alan Shearer. Kubilay Türkyılmaz later equalized from the penalty spot and the whole tournament ended in tears eventually, but it is good to pluck out little moments like this from Euro 96 and look back with rose-tinted specs. Wise could be about to team up with the ‘messiah’ at St James’ Park!

0
Surely nobody saw this one coming? Kevin Keegan has only just reported that Alan Shearer doesn't see himself as a Newcastle number two (look how long it took Gordon Brown to get the top job), although the Yorkshire Evening Post have just broken the news that Dennis Wise could be about to team up with [. Shearer to say yes?

0
The Daily Mail is cutting through all the chuntering waffle about the Toon job like a machete; they are claiming to have an "Exclusive" - namely that Alan Shearer is going to be offered the job. A pitiful excuse for an "Exclusive" if you ask us... With Redknapp deciding to stay in [...] Click to continue reading...

Allardyce Out of Toon; Shearer Plays Down Link

1
Do you want the good news or the bad news? OK, bad news first. Sam Allardyce becomes the latest in a long line of managerial casualties at the once mighty Newcastle United. Bad news for him and for the stability of the club but kind of inevitable given the team's abject performances in recent months. Click to continue reading...

Allardyce gone, but who should replace him?

3
So Big Sam Allardyce has finally been sacked by Newcastle United, and the whole of the UK can breathe a sigh of relief and wait with baited breath for the next press-led torch burning, pitchfork wielding, managerial witchunt (our money is on Rafa)... In the meantime, the non-thinking man's newspaper, The Sun [. Click to continue reading...
