That Wasn’t Supposed To Happen: RBNY 4 - Rapids 5

6

Two come from behind goals to tie the game, one goal for the lead, and the home result? Zero points. Ouch.

Last year, Bruce Arena was highly criticized for his inability to field a consistent squad week in and week out. Coach Osorio is beginning to get an earful for the same.

Chicks, and the Red Bulls, Dig the Longball

5
Taking the field without three regular starters, the New York Red Bulls used the longball... and the head of leading scorer Juan Pablo Angel, to completely dominate the two-time defending MLS Cup champ Houston Dynamo, 3-0, at Giants Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

After Angel snapped home a Dave van den Bergh header in the 8th minute to open the scoring, Seth Stammler launched a ball down the right side to a speeding and finally healthy Dane Richards, who beat his defender and Houston keeper Pat Onstad to double the lead in the 26th. Innocent Elbow Leads To Defensive Questions

1

It was bad enough that I found Gabriel Cichero's elbow as innocent as a babies coo, but even the league thinks it was bad - bad enough, actually, to suspend our new stud centerback for not one, but two league games.

To quote a legendary duck,"Ah Phooey!" How that elbow deserves two games is beyond me.

Red Bulls Iron Chef @ The ESPNZone: Videos and Pics

3

Taking some well deserved time to goof off, a few Red Bulls players participated in an Iron Chef Cook Off at the infamous ESPNZone in Times Square. Each team was given thirty minutes to put together a dish, accompanied by a chef to guide them along. They would then be judged by a media panel that included reknowned pulitzer prize winning food critics, and on the other end of the spectrum - my personal fave - Shep Messing.

The Official Seth Stammler Love-In

0
A few week's ago at an RBNY match I had a convo in the stands with the guy next to me about some hypothetical trades related to some of the current transfer rumors. The question was raised as to who would be a bigger loss for the team if they were to move on: Jeff Parke or Seth Stammler.

Without going into details of the seemingly endless beer-fueled debate, it was decided that while Jeff Parke is the heart of the clubs flawed defense and an all-around bad-ass it's Stammler and his versatility that would hurt the most. Click to continue reading...

The Red Bulls makeover is under way

1

It is taking place a few months later than most fans would have liked, but the New York Red Bulls appear ready for their makeover now.

The team unveiled new signings Jorge Rojas and Juan Pietravallo on Wednesday in what should be the first of several steps toward remaking the roster that head coach Juan Carlos Osorio inherited when he took over as head coach last winter.

The apocalypse in Annapolis (How the Red Bulls lost to a USL-2 team)

4

So how does an MLS team lose to a USL-2 team? There were plenty of factors that went into the Red Bulls' 2-0 loss to Crystal Palace Baltimore on Tuesday night, but none of them is as important as the simple fact that the Red Bulls team that took the field played terribly.

A Goose in the press box

Saturday night's match at Home Depot Center brought about several former US World Cup veterans. Before the match, I went to grab my seat and sitting a few spots down from me was Jeff Agoos. Chivas USA/NY running blog

Sorry this is late. I couldn't find the TV channel for this at first.
"Andrea, why aren't you at the game?"
1. Gas is expensive.
2. I have no assignment to cover this match.
So TV running blog it is.
NY - Jon Conway, Kevin Goldthwaite, Hunter Freeman, Carlos Mendes, Seth Stammler, Sinisa Ubiparipovic, Dave van den Bergh, John Wolyniec, Dane Richards, Andrew Boyens, Jeff Parke
Chivas USA: Brad Guzan (GK), Claudio Suarez, Jim Curtin, Francisco Mendoza, Ante Razov, Carey Talley, Jonathan Bornstein, Bobby Burling, Jesse Marsch, Sacha Kljestan, Justin Braun
15 - I love the matches in Spanish - the announcers usually sound much more serious about the game. Click to continue reading...

Red Bull New York at Chivas USA

0

It's the ( 5-4-4) Red Bulls against (5-6-2) Chivas USA on a lovely night for soccer at Victoria Street.

Chivas USA Coach Preki has named a 3-4-3 formation, although indications are we'll see a 4-4-2 with Jonathan Bornstein (who is listed as a forward) actually playing at left back.

Brad Guzan is in goal as usual, while Jim Curtin is presumably drafted into the middle of defense alongside Claudio Suarez, leaving Bobby Burling at right back.

Revolution 1, Red Bulls 1: A Supporter's View

Who can figure out the New England Revolution?

The Revs have been one of the strongest teams in MLS all season, but for some reason when they play at Gillette Stadium they have been prone to flat performances. Such a showing came yet again on Thursday, as an inspired and gritty Red Bulls team nearly pulled a rare win at Gillette before settling for a well-earned draw.

Excellent Effort on the Road: Red Bulls 1 - Revolution 1

1

After the DC game, I was calling for changes - even if it went as far as benching Conway a game - to do whatever it takes to wake this team up. But Osorio took it to another level, and it nearly paid off with a W. An excellent effort by the midfield, good stand up play by Goldthwaite and the backline, and the Bulls were one mistake away from a win.

Who is on your MLS All-Star Ballot?

1

It might not seem like it, but the MLS season is barreling toward the midway point, which means it's getting to be that time to vote for the MLS All-Star Game. Fan Balloting has been under way for quite some time but media were only given their ballots this week.

This got me wondering what lineup you, the SBI Mafia, would vote for to play against West Ham United in this summer's All-Star Game.

All The Bull - Brunner, Jozy, Arena and My Dog

So I walked into my building today to get to my apartment. I head upstairs and the dog is going nuts - its been like 8 hours since I walked him last. But there is a problem - Boca v.
