Sergio Aguero - Atletico Madrid

The first time i saw Sergio Aguero was last night's match against Liverpool in the Champions League. He was a subsitute in about the 75th minute. He may have played about 20 minutes, but i already noticed the kid's excellent skills. Atletico could have won that match because Aguero was such a threat to the [. Click to continue reading...

FINALLY, the start of the 08/09 season! Fortunately, I have VERIZON FIOS as my cable provider, so I can watch Liga games (en vivo). Unfortunately, though, our opening game will NOT be televised. Five Blokes Who Might Be Half Decent - La Liga

0
Bojan...scored more often as a youth than Darren McFadden

Grégory Coupet - Atletico Madrid - Goalkeeper

Coupet is 35 and French national team goalkeeper, so hardly an unknown. However, it will be interesting to see how he performs in his first season outside France. Coupet was a major part of the Lyon success story and has seven league winners medals, although he is probably most famous for this double save against Barcelona. Click to continue reading...

Schalke Shocked In Third Qualifying Round

0
After leading 1-0 from the first leg, Schalke had to have had some confidence going into Madrid for the second leg. A strong performance from Atletico saw them thump the German team 4-0 to advance to the group stage for the first time since 1996-97. I had picked Atletico as my 'dark-horse' team in the [. Olympic Gold For Nigeria?

10
Nigeria squares off against Argentina in Saturday's Olympic gold medal final and while the game is a repeat of the 1996 gold medal match that Nigeria won 3-2, can the Super Eagles' offense deal with Lionel Messi and the Albicelestes this time around?

Sergio Aguero sends Argentina into gold contention

3
Sergio Aguero confirmed his status as one of the world's greatest talents when he sent Argentina through to the Olympic final in a 3-0 triumph at the expense of Brazil. Dunga's team were uninspiring for much of the semi-final but the convincing defeat ended their hopes of landing their maiden gold medal in the men's football at the Olympics. Olympic Men's Semis

4
The Olympic football has pretty much flown under the radar in the UK until today, with the powerhouses of Brazil, Argentina, Nigeria and, er.... Belgium all in action. Contrary to popular perception, players in the Olympics don't have to be amateur any more, but each team is only allowed to have 3 players over 23 in the squad, therefore creating a very youthful tournament. World Player of the Year 2009: Ronaldinho

0
Cristiano Ronaldo, Messi, Kaka, Sneijder, Pirlo, Torres, Fabregas and Ferdinand may be the best players in the world today. They have scored 42 goals, beat 50 players a game, be the current holder of the aforementioned award or magically create clean sheets. None of them though, are as talented as the ex Barcelona reserve who scraped together a paltry nine goals last year. Click to continue reading...

A New Age Beckons

In 1965 these players were plying their trade. Ferenc Puskas, Garrincha, Pele, Bobby Charlton, George Best, Franz Beckenbauer, Eusebio, Johan Cruyff, Alfredo Di Stefano and Gerd Muller. With more than some arguments, from Argentines especially, this could be considered an all time top 10 list. Surely this was the golden age of football, talent wise? Click to continue reading...

You know that dream scenario? The one where the U.S. Olympic team shocks the world and wins the gold medal? Yes, that one. Well, Argentina called, and they said wake up.

Argentina named its Olympic team, and as expected, it is loaded.

Juan Riquelme, Javier Mascherano and Nicolas Burdisso are the overage players on a squad that was probably good enough with just the U-23 players.
