The scoreline flattered us, Spurs should have beaten us by far more than 4-2. Our performance was
devoid of any decent passes, movement, defending, and our strikers were left isolated
throughout.
I can't help but feel sorry for the fans who actually paid money to go and watch the match, they
must feel robbed.

Keane scored an excellent brace, and the confidence in his play was evident immediately after the
first goal. This should relieve much of the pressure he has been feeling lately and result in more
goals from him.
Of course, most of us would have loved for Keane to get his hat trick. Perhaps Gerrard wanted the
same for him.

Atletico can whinge all they like about Gerrards dubious penalty claim, but the fact remains we
were robbed of a legitimate penalty claim (deliberate handball maybe?) earlier in the half. Some
people might point out that Carra also handled the ball in the penalty area but he had little or no
control over that.

I feared Spurs might take some momentum from their 4-4 draw with Arsenal and that would impact our
result. We've been lucky with some of our results this season but were unlucky not to win this one.
Karma sucks sometimes.
Bringing Babel on for Keane seemed like an idea to keep Spurs at bay but in reality Babel had one
of his off days and couldn't hold the ball up as well as Keane did.

Agger might have been a little rusty and it certainly showed at the start of the game against
Wigan, but his cock up turned out to be a blessing in disguise. How he reacted to it speaks volumes
about his attitude, he didn't hide, he went out and tried to make amends.
Agger truly adds a whole new dimension to our attacking play, no one brings the ball out of defence
better than he does.

While the first half belonged to Manchester City who were deservedly beating us. The second half
exemplified the belief and character present in our team to come back and win 3-2.
Comebacks are becoming a recurring theme for us this season. At times we didn't deserve them. But
recently we've started playing attractive attacking football.

Too many unsettling rumours have been doing the rounds over the last week concerning Aggers future,
with Real Madrid his main suitors. It's one thing for a player to say he's happy at a club and
wants to stay but it's another thing for the manager to reinforce that.
Agger himself has said that he's not happy with his lack of playing time but he also fully accepts
that he has to fight for us place.

How nice of Torres to return the favour he was gifted at Goodison Park, and set up Robbie Keane for
his first ever goal for Liverpool. It was a pretty cool goal as well, under pressure (both on and
off the pitch) yet he placed it beautifully into the bottom corner.
He can't be faulted for his workrate which was impressive up and down the pitch.

It's shocking just how easy a game this was for us. You wouldn't think this was supposed to be the
Champions League at all considering the gulf in class. In fact it was so easy for the Reds that it
was almost boring to watch.
At least there was a couple of standout moments, the obvious ones being Keane scoring his first
(link), and Gerrard scoring his 100th.

I think I'll contradict my post yesterday where I stated that it doesn't really matter who scores,
only that we win (link). The essence of it is still very much true, in that we just want the team
to win, any way we can.
But there's serious positive effects for a player when he scores (not including OG's).

Apart from when we beat United, our form this season has been terrible, thankfully the results have
been pretty good. The thing with derby days though, is that form generally goes out the window. The
possibility of beautiful football is non-existant, and we expect physical battles.
Even though Torres & Keane have both been off form this season, it's Keane that bears the brunt of
the criticism by the media.

This could be a double edged sword for Keane, if he scores, it should give him the confidence to
relax and perform in subsequent games. On the other hand if he doesn't score against a team of
Crewes calibre, that's bound to shatter his confidence even more than it already is.
This isn't the first and no doubt the last time that he has experienced goal scoring droughts.

Gerrard scored his 100th goal, only for the referee to disallow it for some unknown reason. It's
one thing for the crowd to be labelled the 12th man, but when the referee is the 12th man, it's a
bit of a sucker punch. Can't really blame the referee for 2 points lost though.
The harsh reality is we lacked the creativity required to carve open a stubborn Stoke City who were
determined to defend for 90 minutes.
