Gilberto leaves Arsenal for Panathinaikos- Photos and Vids + Vela

Gilberto Silva, as I mentioned in my previous post was about to sign for the Greek side Panathinaikos ,which the picture suggests will be completed in a day or two. The image shows Gilberto driving out of the Athens airport surrounded by the supporters of the Greek club. Chelsea Ladies sign Arsenal Pair
Power in the Premier League, ladies that is, may be shifting. Chelsea has inked a pair of former Gunners, Lianne Sanderson and Anita Asante. Both were considered shock exits from Arsenal, which has dominated the women's league for decades. Sanderson has been the Prem's top scorer the past two seasons.

D.C. United 4, Red Bulls 1: A Supporter's View

D.C. United's rapid recovery and rise up the East standings took a familiar step last weekend, as the Red Bulls rekindled the roll of D.C. punching bag in a 4-1 blowout loss. The match showed just how much better D.C. is playing than it was a month ago, while also revealing for all to see just how far away the Red Bulls are from being a legitimate contender.

Not the Chicago Fire, which continued its struggles at Toyota Park. A week off didn't keep the Fire from dropping another decision at home, leaving a nice-sized crowd wondering where that unstoppable team they've been watching on TV was.

Jessie Sanderson - NCAA Division II All-America 2nd Team

Congratulations to freshman goalkeeper Jessie Sanderson (Jefferson City Jays 2007), who was named to the 2nd Team All-American squad this week by the NSCAA. The number 1 goalie played for Tampa, national champions this year.

Apparently I got a rise out of her with my earlier posting of highlights footage shot by a Jeff City parent and posted on YouTube so this time I'll be gentler.
