Feel-Good News/Funny Transfer Story

It seems that headlines of athletes and other stars screwing up are often above the fold but praise of good efforts are buried near the back of the paper. Here's a story from a few weeks back from a mother of an autistic child who participated in a clinic put on by Jimmy Conrad, Kerry Zavagnin, Davy Arnaud and Ryan McMahen. Full Reserve Recap

1
Below is today's press release. Pizarro's goal was a serious rocket. I couldn't describe it as such in the release quite enough, and the own goal was created by Pizarro's great ball that would have been converted by Kraus even if the defender didn't touch it. At one point in the game, we kept the ball for over two minutes and completed at least 35 straight passes (they were counted) without New York touching the ball. Click to continue reading...

The Wizards bowed out of the US Open Cup to the Seattle Sounders 0-0 (5-6) on penalty kicks tonight. Misses by Jimmy Conrad and Tyson Wahl during the spot kicks gave Seattle the edge, as Sebastian Le Toux hit the cross bar as well to keep it even. In the PKs, Ryan Pore, Ryan McMahen, Roger Espinoza, Kerry Zavagnin, and Michael Harrington all put their chances away. Click to continue reading...

Reserves Come From Behind Again

1
While the first team could not come back from a 2-0 deficit, the Wizards reserves could, coming from behind to beat Toronto FC 3-2 today after the first team game. TFC grabbed a 2-0 lead in the first 26 minutes, before Ryan McMahen scored a blast from 30 yards out right before half time. In the second half, the Wizards continued to fight back, with Scott Sealy grabbing the equalizer in the 70th minute. Click to continue reading...

Morning Training

1
Good morning from gorgeous Bradenton. The weather was impeccable this morning during training. Today was a lighter session and marked the two-week spot for pre-season. Coach told the players that this is the final week of the initial three-week cycle and will be the most intense so far. Then, training intensity will drop down a level and build through another three-week cycle so that our players are at optimum performance when the season starts. Click to continue reading...
