The UEFA Cup (perhaps soon to be known as the Europa League as we covered a while back) is in some ways more interesting to me as the diversity of nations represented is much higher. If Michel Platini is successful with his reforms, we may see more diversity soon in the Champions League but for [...] Click to continue reading...

FC Dallas Is Now Set to Keep Cooper

This is getting quite ridiculous.  Yesterday, I got word from a reliable source that all Cooper had to do was sign his new contract and he was off to either Rosenborg or Cardiff City.  Now, that same source is reporting that FC Dallas has done a complete u-turn.  They're now prepared to keep Cooper in [. Farewell, Intertoto

2
This weekend brings to a close the often-times confusing history of UEFA's least-popular competition, the Intertoto Cup. When I was first becoming interested in European soccer in the mid-'90s, I would hear the phrase "Intertoto Cup" mentioned, but without the Internet resources we have today, I could never quite figure out what it was. Kenny Cooper - Don't go to Rosenborg!

20
The New York Times has an article about Kenny Cooper and Juan Toja leaving F.C. Dallas for Rosenborg and Steaua Bucharest respectively. I really think both players would be making mistakes, but especially Kenny Cooper. Kenny is on the verge of establishing himself as a top forward in MLS and is still young enough that there will be plenty of opportunities ahead for him if he stays in MLS.
