Southend United 1-1 Nottingham Forest

0

Due to a late bit of work coming my way, I failed to get down to Roots Hall for the big game.

Apparently the Blues were very good in the first half, but had to weather a bit of a Forest comeback in the second. Good to see another one of our loanee signings on the scoresheet.

Here's the PA report:

Substitute Matt Thornhill made sure Nottingham Forest left Roots Hall with a
share of the spoils in an entertaining 1-1 draw against Southend. Click to continue reading...

Southend United 3-0 Oxford United (FA Cup R2 Replay)

2

Southend completely dominated this second round replay against non-league Oxford and should have won by a far greater margin.
Charlie MacDonald scored two, missed a penalty and wasted a number of glorious opportunities in front of goal. Dean Morgan scored a spot kick but was also guilty of missing gilt-edged chances in front of a freezing 2,740 crowd - the lowest for many years. Click to continue reading...

Southend 3-2 Doncaster

The second of the games I missed (hey, it was a well needed holiday!) was a five-goal thriller against Doncaster at Roots Hall on Saturday.

Leon Clarke scored his third in as many games, with Adam Barrett and Alan McCormack bagging the other goals. It moves the Blues up to 5th position. All of a sudden, things are looking good.

The Blues go to Blackpool in the third round of the Carling Cup tomorrow, which is the same day as the public inquiry into the new stadium starts at the Civic Centre in Southend. Click to continue reading...
