Serie A’s Ugliest Footballers

1

So Lorenzo and Alessio had a good idea for a post, we are going to crown Serie A's Ugliest Footballer. There are quite a few of them, and this is the post where we'll nominate footballers. I'll list some here, and if you have a nomination state it in the comments section and I'll add him to the running.

Serie A Weekend Round-up: Giornata 14

Palermo and Italy goalkeeper Marco Amelia said saving Ronaldinho's penalty kick was "like playing Playstation". Now I bet tons of clubs will be getting calls from FIFA '09 addicts saying they should get a trial because they are good at saving penalties on Playstation. Roundup after the jump.

Champions League Final 16 - Juventus Roma Inter And Then There Were Three

1
Atop group A Roma have definitely turned the right corner with a renewed march toward this year's Champions League final again possible.  After a terrible start  their domestic season and of course that opening shocking loss to CFR Cluj all is forgiven by Romanista fans with Roma's reversal of the group opener beating Romanian side Cluj 3-1 Wednesday [. 5 Things We Learned From Matchday 5: Wednesday Edition.

The Cinderellas are in group B, not A. Cluj was the underdog-come-good story to start out the campaign, and deservedly so. They beat Roma - though who didn't earlier in the season - and nil-niled (yes, that's a verb) with a then high-flying Chelsea team. Now, however, they've come back down to earth, and will be [. CFR Cluj 1-3 Roma: Giallorossi Back in the Driver Seat (UEFA Champions League 2008-09)

Roma seem to have taken a fondness for 3-1 wins lately. After Bordeaux and Chelsea, CFR Cluj was the third team Wednesday to fall to the hands of Spalletti's boys in Europe, enabling the Giallorossi to take sole command of Group A with one match to go. And indeed that last match against Bordeaux will be [. Click to continue reading...

Roma 1-0 Lazio: Light at the End of the Giallorossi Tunnel? (Serie A Matchday 12)

1
Derbies are always fun. No matter what the teams' ranking, no one wants to lose them and there's a big entertainment factor involved. For Roma however, winning this week-end's edition of the Derby della Capitale was oh so... capital. Effectively, Julio Baptista 50th minute header brought an end to a 5-game winless streak for the [. Roma 1 - 0 Lazio: Lazio's Cloth, Júlio Baptista's Scissors

I've seen more intense derbies in my life, and so, I'm prepared to concede, has John Arne Riise. Who did, however, get a good view of this one from his seat on the bench. And it could be that watching Max Tonetto take over your spot is more intense than I realize. Still, this was a [...] Related posts:

Antonio Cassano releases his autobiography, and he’s not afraid to tell it like it is (like always)

7

News today is that Antonio Cassano has (with the help of writer Gianluigi Pardo) authored his first autobiography, entitled "Vi Dico Tutto" (I'll tell you everything). And as always, Cassano does indeed tell us everything. We'll have to wait for the book to actually be released (it will be on Italian bookshelves next week, November 19 to be exact) to read everything but some excerpts were released and they are quite amusing and interesting.

Since the season started (and that's not very long mind you, only a couple of months), Alessandro Del Piero captain has not scored one, or two, or even three... but five goals on set-pieces, and one more beautiful than the next. Baggio speaks about calcio

Since retiring from the calcio world, Roberto Baggio has dedicated himself to his family and has stepped out of the limelight, preferring to live the normal life. Every now and again he'll give the odd interview, and when he does it's always interesting to see what the most skillful player Italy has produced in the last 25 years has to say about the current state of the calcio world.

Chelsea fan killed in Rome

1

Tuesday may have been a terrible day for Chelsea FC. It was tragic for a young supporter.

A flock of Blues fans, on their way to the Stadio Olympico in Rome for Tuesday's Champions League tie against AS Roma, were caught in a torrential thunderstorm. A 13-year-old boy was killed when a tree in which he took shelter under was struck by lightning.

Champions League: Two Italian teams happy, one sad, and one with a manager who has no feeling

2

Not bad for Italian teams in the Champions League this week: 2 wins, 2 draws. Roma and Juventus have to be ecstatic after their victories, while Fiorentina after their draw with Bayern at home can't say the same. Inter drew away to Anorthosis, but are still top of the group so they can't really complain but they can't be very happy either.
