Southend United slipped to a heavy defeat at the Banks's Stadium after too many defensive errors were punished by an efficient home side who thoroughly deserved the victory.

A terrible second half period saw the Blues collapse after going into the break level at 1-1.

Is Roy Keane playing with fire at Sunderland?

Another great article from former Republic of Ireland forward Tony Cascarino, where Tony questions the recent signings that Keane has made including Pascal Chimbonda, El Hadji Diouf, and Djibril Cisse. I disagree with Tony on his views though as I think Roy is doing the best he can within his resources to bring in players that can help make Sunderland a respectable team within the Premier League and keep them out of a relegation battle. Southend re-sign Robson-Kanu

The Blues have re-signed Reading midfielder Hal Robson-Kanu on a one-month loan deal.

The 19-year-old spent three months at Roots Hall at the end of last season, scoring three goals in eight starts.

New seasons start in France and Scotland

Soccer is coming back in many of the leagues throughout Europe. The English Premier League had a rather slow start with the Charity Shield game between Manchester United and Portsmouth, which ended 0-0 and then went to penalty kicks where Man U won easily.
