Bring back David Baddiel & Frank Skinner

0
It's so funny how we don't laugh any more "Why so serious"? The Joker said. However, this could be said for the vast amount of football on the tele-box. I'm not talking about the football which is played, more the commentary and the programmes that support our great game. Click to continue reading...

Title race hots up

Good weekend for Arsenal and Man Utd as Liverpool drop more home points A long three days of Premier League action, which saw the first ‘Super Sunday' of the season, as Manchester City played host to bitter rivals Manchester United whilst Arsenal travelled to Chelsea being the highlights of an otherwise uneventful routine weekend. It’s not you, it’s me

0
I'm only with you for the sake of the kids I used to love England (the team, not the country—or does that count as the same thing?). I mean, I REALLY loved them. When I was younger, England—as well as Arsenal—ruled my footballing life. I worshipped them, praised them, believed in them, wanted to be a PART of them. Click to continue reading...

My mate Cris? Yeah, he’s a bit of a Portugeezer!

1
Best in the world? Let's face facts people. Cristiano Ronaldo dos Santos Aveiro is a talent, although I find it easiest to describe him as the "marmite on toast" of football as you'll either love him or you'll hate him. Click to continue reading...

Give these rules the elbow

Hume deserves better protection Your Honour, it was always pretty soul destroying to see your team take a heavy loss and having to head in to school the following Monday to face the taunts of your peers. When it was England going out of a major tournament, however, the collective sense of loss was evident the moment you crossed the threshold into your first classroom. Click to continue reading...

Think football, not financial

Think football, not financial Recently, I left my job and with it the long, 40-mile each-way journey that went with it. The preserve paradox of signing on in the current financial climate is that I'm actually better off now there's no more need for the constant daily refilling of my car. It's quite nice to keep it to myself, but staying at home for a while was a shelter from the obscene panic now gripping everyone from merchant bankers to minimum wage staff across the land. I’m a footballer, get me out of here!

0
Are they Footballers or stars? I remember growing up as a little boy playing football, it's always what I wanted to do, and it's what I always wanted to be. This was just because I loved playing the game so much. I'm sure so many of you out there wanted to do the same, and where did we end up? In regular jobs. Click to continue reading...

United’s woeful forwards

Tevez can't Make a tackle and Ronaldo can't take a tackle There I was, sat on the couch mulling over the Chelsea/Newcastle game and thinking what to write about this week when Aston Villa v Manchester United came on the box and my prayers were answered. Click to continue reading...

Proof is in the cookie Picture this boring scenario: I've cooked up a basket of homemade cookies—very tasty homemade cookies, in fact—after spending years honing the recipe, tweaking and adjusting and swapping the ingredients, and now somebody's interested in purchasing one of them. Only ONE of them, but there are already some people interested in my other cookies so it's OK. Click to continue reading...

“The Incredible Sulk”

0
Has the ego finally landed? You won't like him when he's angry! There is no sign of experimentation into the field of inner human strength or even a sniff of excess gamma exposure. To have his shirt rip could only ever come from a-would be challenging defender that got a little to hands on whilst dancing the penalty area tussle! Click to continue reading...

Manchester’s Millions

1
Spending big does not mean success! After watching the (fairly) entertaining Hull City v Manchester City game I got to thinking about the two stars of the game and how much they cost their teams to purchase. Hull City's most consistent player so far this season must be the Brazilian, Geovanni. His deflected free kick helped to earn his Tigers a point at home against the Sky Blues over the weekend. Maradona - We hate you (still)

0
Es para volverse loco. If you had to name the team you think will win the next World Cup, who would it be? I hate to say it but for me, at least on paper, I'd go for Argentina every time... that was until they appointed their new manager. When I clocked the news that Diego Maradona was taking over, I almost wet my strides! Click to continue reading...

Premier League weekend review

0
Goals galore! Another busy weekend of Premier League action saw few upsets and a return to form for three of the big four whilst the bottom half of the table was rotated once again with everyone still left wondering if a smaller number of relegation candidates will ever be cut away rather than everyone from 6th down to 20th looking over their shoulder. The downfall of Soccer AM

1
Fight bland and back Brand Saturday mornings used to be so enjoyable. Turn the TV on. Switch over to Sky Sports and tune in for the best dose of hangover TV known to man. Soccer AM. One half of Sky's luxurious flagship Saturday schedule. The other half being the most spectacular example of visual simplicity possible. Click to continue reading...

Arsenal have no personality

2
It's time to ditch the fake tan! Everything about Arsenal these days is manufactured around Wenger's ‘beautiful football' philosophy. The problem is that their ‘beauty' only lies on the surface; makeup, false nails, implants, fake tan—none of this makes a woman beautiful inside, nor does it form the foundations of a great team. Hull City – Would you like a UEFA with your ice Cream Sir?

0
The future is orange Just a short trip to Walton Street in East Yorkshire you would find yourself staring up at Hull City F.C. The home of the "Tigers" and just like the big cats there has been no time to 'paws' or rest on any laurels since their entry to the Premiership this season. This their 1st season in the top flight after sealing a 3rd place finish at the end of 2007/08 after beating a resolute Bristol City in the play-off's. Click to continue reading...

The Hands of God

Well Stoke fans seem to think so No it's not a rant about the vertically challenged Argie who i despise, that's for next week, on no, we're today discussing the merits of the Premierships newest star, The King of the Assists with the Guns of Justice, ladies and gentlefolk, I give you Rory Delap. Since the start of the season, Rory Delap has double-handedly created 7 of Stokes 13 goals much to the delight of Ricardo Fuller and Olofinjana (don't attempt to say that after a few sherbets). Football - Bringing people together

0
Well I never! It's always strange when you meet someone from nearby your home town when you live over 100 miles away but particularly stranger when you meet someone who lives just down the road, yet supports the same football team as you. Now that may not seem such a co-incidence for Premier League supporting fans but when the team in question is Northampton Town, the weirdness increases! Click to continue reading...

Action packed weekend in the Premier League

1
Weekend review Ten games, 25 goals, 34 bookings, three red cards and five matches ending 2-1. It was a very enjoyable weekend in the Premier League and one which left a number of fans singing for joy and an equal number hoping to forget the last two days ever happened. Click to continue reading...

Weathering the Premier League

1
Dave's weekly rant Having seen three premier league games this weekend one thing that struck me is the amount of times players failed to weight a pass properly on the slick or sodden field that accompanies English football in November. I also noticed that the bulk of the offenders are foreign including Spaniards, Argentines, Brazilians and the odd Irishman (naming no names here, you fill in the blanks). A load of old Cobblers The F.A. Cup First Round proper kicks off this weekend and the Cobblers are thrown into the national spotlight again, this time on Setanta Sports against Leeds United. Stuart Gray's side go into the game as massive underdogs despite being in the same league as our hosts but hopefully the magic of the cup will work on our side again. Click to continue reading...

Specs, Lies and Video Replays

Has Wenger lost the plot? Do you remember when Wenger arrived at Arsenal way back when? The days of new exciting signings such as Dennis Bergkamp and company tipped the scales on the Premiership balance of power and made Arsenal a formidable force. And those spectacles! Those googly-eyed pint glasses were comedy gold. Click to continue reading...

The Redknapp factor

The only way is up What a week last week was for Spurs fans. Although still bottom of the league, there a is new found optimism at White Hart Lane. Premier League - Anyone can beat anyone

Villa - Good enough for The Champions League?

Ten games in and people are saying things they may regret. Should Manuel Almunia play for England?

1
I'm so sorry, he's from Pamplona... The devilish fiend of Farrier returns just in time for All Hallow's Eve and with another tantalising proposition, arguing both sides of the story just for the sake of stirring the cauldron. As there is no possible way of furthering the tedious Halloween link to a certain Arsenal goalkeeper, let's just get straight on with the big question: Click to continue reading...

Is this the year we lose a so called big club? The Premier League table makes interesting viewing right now. Spurs - To good to go down?
