Rapids Lose Game in Ten Minute Spell

1
Two defensive errors in the space of ten minutes late in the second half and this game was over. The Colorado Rapids lost 3-2 to the Galaxy in LA for the second time this season and now the playoff hopes are dimming. The Rapids simply have to go to Chivas next weekend back in LA and win so that there is not too much pressure in that last home game against Salt Lake. Click to continue reading...

Bouna Off to Claim What Is His

2
When you are enjoying your Starbuck's double tall non-fat this Saturday morning, spare a thought for Colorado Rapids' favorite, Bouna Coundoul. Bouna is currently in his native Senegal preparing for a crucial World Cup qualifier against Gambia which kicks off at 10am Mountain Time. Click to continue reading...

New York Score Four and We Still Win?

2
Everyone got their breath back? The final whistle blew almost 24 hours ago and I can't seem to shake this game out of my mind. The image of Mehdi Ballouchy's fantastic cross onto Conor Casey's outstretched boot in the final minutes of the game remains largely fixed. It was not that the defenses were so poor on both sides. Bouna to Follow Herc Out The Rapids' Door?

3
There's a nice write-up about Bouna Coundoul in the Denver Post (link below) and how he is caught between a rock and a hard place both at home and with the Senegal national team. He's saying all the right things about being happy as a deputy to Preston Burpo but it is clear how frustrated he is at being on the bench both for the Colorado Rapids and Senegal. Trade Grades: The Best and Worst From 2008

5
The past couple of days got me thinking, this year we've seen so many trades between the clubs. Some moves have paid off and others have been more of a waste than anything. I felt like today was a good day to look back at the moves that have paid off and the moves that [...] Click to continue reading...

Rapids Go To War In Battle Formation

6
If you look at the Colorado Rapids website, you'll see this weekend's projected formation lined up looking like some Roman gladiators. The formation is listed as basically two lines of four and five in defense and midfield with lone striker,Conor Casey, up front. Here is the link to the website. Click to continue reading...

It All Fits But Could It Work? Neville likes Starbuck's

3
Yes, it seems like a good fit but how do you get there? Colorado Rapids' skipper, Pablo Mastroeni, smiled at my idea of him playing for Everton next season. They have no players, they need to sign up to six new faces, he is looking to move to Europe and play and he wouldn't cost them as much as European players when there is controversy within Goodison Park about the transfer budget. Midweek Roundup

1

Colorado Rapids 2-1 Dallas: I can't believe it, but I never did post a comment on the game last Sunday, and it was a beaut'. The Rapids used their normal relentless style of play, but also slipped one in in the 6th just for good measure. If Tom keeps scoring like that, the Rapids will be unstoppable.

Kirovski, Grey Traded To San Jose For Burpo

1
Talk about a trade that was hardly mentioned. While digging around for another story today I came across this article on MLSnet. Apparently we all missed this trade on Wednesday as San Jose sent veteran back-up keeper Preston Burpo and a 2009 fourth round SuperDraft pick to Colorado for Jovan Kirovski and Kelly Gray. Rapids’ Depth Gets Deeper at Keeper

0

The big problem down the road for the Rapids: their keeper is too darn good. Bouna is going to Senegal to help his country qualify for the World Cup. This was bound to happen, as Bouna got his first cap last summer in the African Cup of Nations and Senegal's manager was impressed with his performance (and it's hard not to be, for whomever he plays).

Brian Carroll to Columbus, Kei Kamara to San Jose, Preston Burpo to San Jose

6
A flurry of trades as the Expansion Draft overhaul gets picked apart. It was pretty much a given that defensive midfielder Brian Carroll was going to move on after being picked by San Jose and having a somewhat sketchy year in D.C.

Columbus gets Carroll for - in my opinion - a rather low price, forward Kei Kamara. Click to continue reading...
