Liverpool 1 Marseille 0: Unconvincing but does the job

1

Rafa finally learns how to pronounce ‘dilemma', some Marseille fans are morons and clearly, we have a goal-scoring crisis

CSD was spot-on when he predicted a narrow score-line for Wednesday's Matchday 5 encounter with French side, Olympique de Marseille. Nevertheless, this "scary" win qualifies the Reds to the last 16 of the UEFA Champions League tournament for the 5th successive year – a perfect record for Benitez.

Liverpool 0 Fulham 0: What a waste

0

Torres = Quality, Kuyt = Quality, Keane = Rubbish!

Bad news for the Reds: Another stalemate at home, when a win could have elevated us to top position, because our table neighbour, Chelsea, also suffered the same fate as us.

Good news for former Red: Danny Murphy's 7th encounter with his former club did not turn out to be such a bad outing.

Liverpool 3 W.B.A 0: Awesome-ness restored

9

Robbie's brace, Arbeloa knows where the net is, Carra still gets away with fouls and Rafa almost slipped at the sideline again

It was business as usual for our men in Red, as they wrapped up this late-kickoff match with a 3-nil victory over newly-promoted, West Brom Albion.

UCL Matchday 4: Liverpool 1 Atletico Madrid 1

0

It was a boring match until the last 4 minutes of stoppage time, which saw a questionable penalty given to Liverpool (Fine by me, we'll take the draw) and 4 yellow cards.

If we hadn't scored, I would probably started off by saying Liverpool was shite. Nando's former club outplayed us, and though we had most of the possessions in the 2nd half, we were not able to find the net.

Match Roundup: Spurs vs Liverpool

0

1st Half

It didn't take long before Liverpool found the net at the 3rd minute through Dirk Kuyt, courtesy of an unselfish assist from former Spurs hitman, Robbie Keane. And although Spurs tried to surge forward, they failed to get any decent shots on goal. Luka Modric, however, came close at the 41st minute, but Pepe Reina was on hand to thwart his effort.

Final Whistle: Chelski 0 Liverpool 1

1

[Nadia]

London bridge did fall down

Rafa's Red Army finally ended Chelski's unbeaten run at the Bridge, with a strike from our Spanish midfield maestro 10 minutes into the first half, making him the 2nd Liverpool player to score against Chelski in the League, after Bruno Cheyrou in February 2004.

Atletico and Chelsea and Bears! Oh My!

Hopefully, you caught the liveblog today. we might try to do that more often for those stranded at work.

First up, Atletico v. Liverpool today, part of the Champions League group stage. There was lots of controversy leading up to this one with the suspensions of Atletico head coach, Javier Aguirre and use of home grounds put on hold.

Liverpool 3 Wigan 2

What have we learnt...

1. I do have a crystal ball =X
2. Daniel Agger would make a good winger or midfielder.
3. Our opponents should be careful the next time they score against us first.
4. Once again, we have won the hard way, but we have what it takes to be serious title contender.

Don’t cry, Robinho…just suck that thumb

Liverpool showed glimpses of their resilient form, last seen during the 2006 FA cup finals against West Ham, when they came back from a 2-goal deficit, to beat Manchester City 2-3, both teams ending the game with 10-man.

Oasis's favourite football team got off to a good start when they went ahead with a goal from Stephen Ireland ,as Alvaro Arbeloa failed to clear the ball around the penalty area.

Now that is how you boss a little team from Holland. We commanded this game from the first kick and I was a little disappointed that we only netted the three goals. Torres was a little off for some reason and if he had not been, we surely would have seen a higher scoreline.

Torres hearts Merseyside Derby

0

Hi everyone, I'm Nadia and I come from Singapore. Yes, that dinky island in Asia, which is currently hosting the first-ever Formula 1 Grand Prix night race. I'm here to blog about far more important things happening this weekend, such as the 208th Merseyside Derby at that narrow shithole, they call Goodison Park.

LFC 0 - 0 Stoke

The celebration that died in vain. What a queer match. According to all of the crystal balls in the world, the Reds were supposed to hand Stoke City their ass on Saturday, but instead had to settle for a measly point.

Some would say that one of the problems was that Torres was not match fit yet.

I'm so damned happy and drunk right now that I don't know where to start. It's not even 9am yet... crap. The best thing that could have happened was the early goal by Tevez. I think that slapped the entire Liverpool squad in the face and said, "You better wake the hell up." And they did.

This was the first match of the season that I can say that the Reds played the way they should.

Aston Villa 0 - 0 LFC *yawn*

2

Some would agree that this was an absolute borefest while others would not. Martin O'Neil and Rafa didn't get into a scrap and Barry didn't cry so it was definitely not the grudge match we were hoping for. For me, the game pretty much ended when Torres came out with a pulled hamstring because at that point the attack threat was gone.

CL Qualifier: LFC 1 - 0 Standard Liege

7

I didn't get to see this one, but apparently we're still playing like ass and now to top it off, we've lost Stevie G for 10-14 days. He's finally having that pesky groin operated on, which apparently is not that serious, but will keep him off the pitch for club and country. Hopefully, he will be back in shape for when Man U come to town on September 13th.

LFC 2 - 1 M’Boro

How the Reds put this one away, I'll never know, but we definitely found out why an exhausted Steven Gerrard was left on for the full 90′. I'm getting a little tired of the criticism he's been facing. The guy has had multiple injuries, one before the first match with Standard Liege, and since then has been playing every few days for either club or country.

Ah, yes... a win and a goal from Torres. What could be better? For starters, the entire first half could have been better. In fact, let's pretend that the first half didn't happen at all because some other team wearing our kits showed up and attempted to play football.

Sami Hyypia's first couple of touches made it look like Sunderland had twelve men on the field.

I'm not going to be able to comment much on the league games remaining in the season as I have canceled my Setanta subscription. If you happen to catch them, feel free to chatter on these posts about how they went. There's a video in that big empty space that eventually loads. The site is being slow today for some reason.

CL Leg 2: LFC 4 - 2 Arsenal

What's there to say that hasn't been said already? You've seen the goals. You know the story. The only thing to do left is take a moment to celebrate and then look forward to the next match.

I know this video is not from today. It's more of a tribute to the 12th man that keeps showing up for the Reds.

Second verse, same as the first. I wonder what the excuse will be this week. My favorite part of that video is when the announcer wigs out after Crouchie scores.

Both managers decided to rest key players and let the subs fight it out. In retrospect, it might have not been the smartest thing for Arsenal to do as their Premier League hopes seem to be over now.

CL 1st Leg: Arsenal 1 - 1 LFC

Well I must say this wasn't the thrashing I hoped that the Reds would give Arsenal, but it's the next best thing. You can't complain about coming back to Anfield without having a goal deficit.

And so the man crush on Fernando Torres continues to grow. I really thought this match was going to be high scoring after Torres came up with a brilliant shot only 7″ into the first half giving him his 28th league goal. Unfortunately or fortunately, depending on how you look at it, that would be the only goal for the rest of the game.

The Verizon gods have been kind and instead of having my DSL turned on Thursday, it was turned on Monday. So, after two weeks of moving and fighting with utility people, I'm finally settled. Now I have the time and opportunity to talk about that bunch of bullshit that happened Sunday, so let's get into it.

One more notch on the bedpost. Eight matches left and eight points behind the leaders. Oh, and guess who lost this weekend? Just goes to show you, it's a crazy game.

I thought the team looked a little tired in this match, but after the past two weeks, who can blame them? It's amazing that the club has been getting the results it needs with the workload they have had to take on.

Thank you, Everton, for keeping our seat warm. I don't really know what else to say other than, "tee-hee!" It's like Christmas came twice this year. All I wanted was for the club to be in good form and now I have it.

Apparently, when you have been hurling your brains out with a stomach bug, the way to get over it is to score a treble in a home game.

Bolton - Liverpool
by doa56

Boo-Ya! Every once in a while The Crystal Ball is wrong OK, every time, but thankfully it was wrong in a good way today. I would say that this was a surprise win, but with the team's current form, it shouldn't have been. But like I said before, we just have not performed well when visiting Bolton.

I meant to get this out yesterday, but apparently it was date night for The Offside bloggers, so I ended up going on one too.

It's amazing, you put out a strong XI and they win. Both teams came out aggressively, Inter probably a little bit too much as Materazzi accumulated two yellows very quickly and was sent off in the 30′.

LFC 1 - 2 Barnsley

This is what happens when you try to focus on cups instead of the league and then underestimate your opponent. Not to take anything from Barnsley, who had excellent defending and a keeper that I think was actually Superman, but Rafa didn't field a serious team against them. No Reina, no Torres, no Mascherano, Gerrard on the bench ridiculous.

We came, we saw, well at least we didn't lose. I would post a video of the great match highlights, but there was not any to speak of. The 90 minute contest was full of chances that were not capitalized on. It was, however, worth watching.

Both sides came out with high pressure. Peter Crouch had a few headers that were worthy of the back of the net, but he could not seal the deal.

Sunderland Recap

0

It's about time that we finally met expectations. The first half looked like more of the same with few opportunities being created by either team. Martin Skrtel made another start at Anfield and showed some quality defending.

In the second half, the imposters who had been wearing the red shirts for the past few games were shipped out and the real Liverpool squad finally turned up.

In between illegally downloading episodes of The L Word (it's about lesbians, it's BRILLIANT), I caught the match on ESPN's Gamecast Live since the Communists at Setanta and Fox Soccer Channel refuse to air games that I care about. If you've never used gamecast, it's sort of like watching a text role playing game of the match.
