Real Madrid Allow Robinho To Leave Real Madrid

1
Real Madrid have finally met the demands of Robinho and will allow the player to leave the club. It will be interesting to see who moves for the Brazilian star, with Chelsea having been strongly linked in the summer. Manchester United were apparently after him as a possible Ronaldo placement, should the Portuguese star have [. Click to continue reading...

EPL - Chelsea v. Portsmouth...

2
Online Videos by Veoh.com
What a infusion of Latino flair can't do for a team. Big Phil off to a flyer as Red Rom's lads saturate Pompey with pass after pass after pass on their way to a 4-nil route. And look at little Deco, what a difference a creative genius makes to a midfield, yes? Don't get me wrong, Fat Frank and Michael Bollocks are fab but come on, the little Portuguese is on another level as his goal is the work of an artist at his very best. Click to continue reading...

Cristiano Ronaldo told by Man Utd: "Anyone but Real Madrid"

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson told Cristiano Ronaldo he could join any club in the world apart from Real Madrid, according to reports in Spain.

Ferguson made the pledge when he met Ronaldo for talks in Lisbon last month after the Portuguese midfielder said he wanted a move to Real Madrid, Spanish newspaper Marca says. Click to continue reading...

The Best Damn Club in Town

Since dumping inflatable fun-bucket Nereida Gallardo, Cristiano Ronaldo has been having a whale of a time. In between busy stints tanning himself blacker than night, the Portuguese winger has been rubbing shoulders with Paris Hilton, David Beckham and Justin Timberlake, and dating a foxy Italian model called Letizia Filippi. Everything you already knew is true.

From The Fiver: "Quite how United fans will react to Ronaldo's announcement is anyone's guess, although being as fickle as the next set of sheep they'll probably boo him half-heartedly for 10 minutes before being won over by a dive in the opposition box." What's up with Fergie calling him "boy?" I will stay at Man [. Click to continue reading...

The waiting is over... for now

0
As the Real Madrid squad fly out to Colombia for a (presumably) lucrative friendly against Independiente de Santa Fé, the news filtered out that the long-running saga around Cristiano Ronaldo is over, at least for this summer.

In an interview with Portuguese daily Publico (reproduced in full and translated to English in The Guardian), the Manchester United winger finally declared his desire to "fight and honour the shirt with the same desire and dedication I always have". Click to continue reading...

Ronaldo To Stay

1
Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon today appeared to accept defeat in the signing of Crisitano Ronaldo from Manchester United during the unveiling of Rafael van der Vaart. The eternal trouble making president has continuously suggested that the portuguese winger is set to quit Old trafford to link up with the Spanish giants but Calderon stated whilst presenting Real's new Dutch signing at the bernabau that "Van der Vaart is the first signing and probably the only one" It would appear that Man Utd fans can now breathe a sigh of relief as it seems that Ronaldo is set to stay in Manchester for at least another season. Wenger completes signing of yet another young talent

2
Arsenal have today completed the signing of Weder Bremen midfielder Amaury Bischoff. The French-born Bischoff has signed for the Gunners for an undisclosed fee after weeks of speculation about the 21-year old's future at Bremen.

The Portuguese under-21 international admitted earlier this month that a chance to join the Premier League giants would be too good to turn down and so that has proved. Click to continue reading...

Soccer-Lovin': It's Not Just For Basketballers

18
It seems like forever that Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver and big mouth Chad Johnson has been threatening to show up for 2008 in a jersey other than that of the Ohio players. He sort of made good on that threat by showing up to Bengals training camp today in a Sporting Lisbon kit. Somewhere, in the Ohio Valley a lone Portuguese man is watching that ESPN clip and laughing until Vinho Verde comes out of his nose. Click to continue reading...

Nobby Solano & the Galaxy

5

Soccer writer Scott Wolf expanded on his earlier post on this blog about the possibility of the Galaxy signing Nolberto Solano (but frankly, I like saying Nobby) with a story today in the newspaper.

I've always admired Peuervian Solano, a player with panache and verve, but let's hope if the Galaxy do sign him they have more success than they did with Portuguese Abel Xavier (so inept he was dumped even with a guaranteed contract) and Nigerian Celestine Babayaro (last seen trying out with EPL team Portsmouth) who was cut before the season even began.

Spurs look to snatch very useful centre back: Would be a bargain buy!

Juande looks to an established quality centre-back to help resolve long-term defensive issues. Is Manchester United striker really past his best?

7
The Red Devils landed the Premier League and Champions League last season, and the star of the show was undoubtedly Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese forward often overshadowed his team-mates in terms of goals scored and created, including a certain England striker who certainly wasn't on top form for Manchester United . Video: CR7 Fans The MLS Tranfer Flames at The ESPY's

I really shouldn't further the CR7-to-LA speculation but if this is the worst thing I do all day you gotta give me a pass. I wouldn't put it past LA to try and bring him in after Becks leaves, but I'd much prefer New York making a move to get him (and a few of the thousands of Portuguese who live across the bridge in The Ironbound) into Red Bull Park. ''Did Calderon tell (former Spanish dictator) Franco (about slavery)? Jesus Christ, give me a break''

2
That friendly little phrase was uttered by none other than Sir Alex himself when he was told of Real president Ramon Calderon's "slavery" comment regarding Man Utd's alleged treatment of the Portuguese international.

Apparently Calderon challenged Manchester United's contract with Ronaldo a few weeks back by saying "slavery was abolished many, many years ago. Click to continue reading...
