What to expect: Liverpool vs PSV Eindhoven

0

Wednesday's Matchday 2 for Liverpool will be against Dutch side, PSV Eindhoven, currently 2nd in the Dutch Eredivisie. This will be held at our fortress, so I supposed it is easy to conclude that we will win comfortably. My prediction: 3-1. It will be a Gernando show : ))

In fact I will not be surprised if PSV were to score first, just like Marseille did in Matchday 1.

Spotlight: Hoffenheim 1899 runs Werder Bremen close

0

Our favourite Bundesliga team almost pulled another rabbit by losing narrowly to powerhouse Werder Bremen in an exciting and fast paced match with lots of goals. And the hottest Bundesliga striker, Vedad Ibisevic scored his 7th goal. His Bosnian team mate Sejad Sahilovic kept pace with three.

A real clásico in the Monumental

1
The first of Sunday's two clásicos lived up to the name as, in a frantic encounter which barely saw the pace let up at any point, River Plate and Racing Club drew 3-3 in a match which saw no little rain, late chances to win for both sides, a red card right at the death, [...] Click to continue reading...

Manchester United v Bolton Review, did Ronaldo cheat?

1
Sir Alex Ferguson left Rooney on the bench today and Ronaldo, Tevez and Berbatov started up front but the main talking point was Cristiano Ronaldo yet again. Bolton started off at a great pace,... I hate seeing Thierry Henry suffer at Barcelona.......

3
Thierry Henry is suffering at Barcelona and it breaks my heart to see the situation that he is in.

The man is a legend at Arsenal and I thought he would have ended his career with us. Obviously that didn't happen and although I, like every Gooner, was sad to see him leave, I wished him no malice and hoped he would be happy in Spain. Click to continue reading...

Too Early To Give Up On Pennant

1
There have been many critics of Jermaine Pennat – a good portion of them Liverpool fans – yet I have always failed to understand the reason for all the negativity. I appreciate that he's probably not good enough, or at least not consistent enough, to be playing each week for a team with title ambitions but, as a squad player, he isn't a bad option. Possebon's injury shows not much has changed

1

How quickly Sir Alex forgets. On Possebon's injury.

'You don't want to see things like that and I hope I never see anything like it again,' said the United boss.

Its nice for Sir Alex to come up with some nice trite explanation but these sort of injuries have happened many times before and will happen again, so to say that he hopes he never has to see it again is pretty glib.

Tomkins: Glass Still Half-Full

1
I attempt to read all emails, even though I can't reply to them all. After poor results I get a mixture of messages: those from people who appreciate my attempts to find light in the dark (and who, such as this weekend, request a dose of positivity served in a glass half full), and those from people who offer a suggestion as to what I can go do with myself, sometimes with precise details as to the how and where. REPORT: Ruud Gullit Says MLS On Par with Dutch Top Flight But Must Change To Progress

21

It seems one of the things that may have prompted MLS to consider major changes to the schedule might have been the words of ex-LA Galaxy boss, Ruud Gullit. In this interview with Britain's Daily Mail he give MLS some constructive criticism that many readers here likely agree with.

Here is an excerpt:

Courtesy of our friends at Tribal Football:

Former LA Galaxy coach Ruud Gullit says there's a lot that needs to change in MLS.

How Soon is Now?

0

United's season continued to splutter along blinking and a little confused last night as they were held 0-0 by an organised and well drilled Villarreal side. United and Fergie can be happy with the way the game was played as the disappointing final balls were getting fewer and far between and chances were created as the game went on.

Respect means respect whether refs are right or wrong

0
David Moyes is the first Premier League manager to be mowed down by the Respect the Ref bandwagon following his outburst at Stoke at the weekend. The Everton boss is the first to discover that, at least while the campaign maintains its current pace, respect for the referee must be maintained whether his decision is [. Real Salt Lake

1

Wow, here we are. Real Salt Lake and Chivas USA, 6 pointer on our hands.

First question is "Who is available?" Looking on the injury list, It looks surprisingly light. Four people out and three more maybes. What? Does that mean we can put a decent team on the field? One that could compete with the best of MLS?

Chicken Kiev??!! We were like TURKEY TWIZZLERS!!.....

0
Jamie Oliver would not have been happy with Arsenal tonight in Kiev as we resembled his least favourite food.

It was far from vintage Arsenal tonight and you have to say based on the performance a point from the game was a good one.

Arsenal could have had the game wrapped up though in the first half and missed some clear cut chances that really cost us. Click to continue reading...

BIG-MONEY signing admits he struggled on his Spurs debut

1
Tottenham's big-money signing Roman Pavlyuchenko has revealed that he struggled to find his feet on his debut against Aston Villa. Pepe Positive After Liverpool Win

3
Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina is in a positive state of mind after his side came from behind to claim three points in Marseille last night.

Pressure

0
See, there is method to my madness.   I spent a lot of time harping on about pinning Bolton back with Johnson's pace and a high defensive line, and, to make the point nicely, here (and I'm turning into a one trick pony aren't I?) are the Telegraph's density maps.   We're at the top, shooting left [. Carragher: We Mean Business Now

0
Liverpool stalwart Jamie Carragher says that the fact that they finally managed to get the better of Manchester United on Saturday should send out a warning to the rest of the league.

An own goal by Wes Brown combined with a opportunistic strike Ryan Babel snapped a terrible run for Liverpool against their arch rivals, and Carragher is now genuinely convinced that their 18 years title drought will finally come to an end by the time all is said and done this campaign. lots of energy but no points

Image via Wikipedia the new york red bulls came to the chicago fire ready to play. this game was end-to-end entertaining soccer for 90 minutes. i can't believe the pace that both teams managed to keep up for the entire match, and i also can't believe we left there with no points and gifted chicago with three more in a tough 1-0 loss. Is Walcott too Quick?

4
Cockney Irishman, ex Millwall stalwart, and now a respected columnist in the times today wrote a rambling article about the importance of pace in, especially Theo's, game today. I think that this is rather sad. That the difference isn't about how good your ball skills, which you have worked on since when you were five, but about something that is innate to you; you were born with it.
