Dumb Luck: Why Juan Carlos Osorio Will End New York’s Season

3
Juan Carlos Osorio, coach of the New York Red Bulls, is a lucky, lucky man. This past Saturday, his side pulled off one of the greatest upsets in MLS playoff history, defeating the two-time defending champions Houston Dynamo 3-0 at Robertson Stadium in Houston. Osorio fielded an unchanged side from the first leg, which ended [. Click to continue reading...

That Wasn’t Supposed To Happen: RBNY 4 - Rapids 5

6

Two come from behind goals to tie the game, one goal for the lead, and the home result? Zero points. Ouch.

Last year, Bruce Arena was highly criticized for his inability to field a consistent squad week in and week out. Coach Osorio is beginning to get an earful for the same.

Mac Kandji Loaned To The Red Bulls

3

It took alot to get the deal done, but the Atlanta Silverback goal scoring forward stand out Macoumba Kandji is now a Red Bull. The Silverhawks have agreed to a loan deal through the rest of this season, with an option to sign . And after passing his physical, you can expect him to be making his debut in short time.

ALL THE BULL: Rojas Raves, International Duty, Trialists, More

1

Well, business is back to normal after the Kandji disaster last week. Weeks of good news and achievement took a backseat to the alleged communist behavior of the MLS. But people do forget rather quickly, especially after the team has performed so damn well in a historically disasterous period for previous Metro/Bull squads.

but it's not a losss

Image via Wikipedia saturday night saw the new york red bulls take on dc united. to be honest, it was a pretty ugly game on our part. we were lucky to walk out of there with a 0-0 draw.

but then again, a road tie against dc united is never something to scoff at. i think the real tragedy comes when you look at our play compared to our three-game winning streak. Click to continue reading...

three wins in a row!

0
Image by goddam via Flickr ladies and gentlemen, we have a soccer team in new york.

three games at home, three solid wins. a month ago, this would have been thought impossible, but the new york red bulls have become THE team to watch out for as the season begins to draw to a close.

with the 3-0 win over the strong houston dynamo, the red bulls put 9 quick points up on the conference board, and move into a fourth place tie with dc united - who, as it happens, is their next opponent. Click to continue reading...

Sylvain Wiltord Linked With Red Bulls Move

1

Sylvain Wiltord, of Arsenal and Lyon fame, has been linked to a move stateside - in particular, New York. But was there enough time to get a deal done with the transfer deadline?

For those who don't know, Wiltord is a speedy, diminutive forward/winger, who made his name in Arsenal.

Sunday, Sunday, Sunday!: New York v. Toronto

1
Another big eastern conference game at the newly-sanitized Meadowlands this weekend. RBNY v. TFC with both sides part of the four-team tie for fourth place; NY, Toronto, DC and KC are all level on 25 points so hopefully one of these two can break away from the daisy chain because the basement is getting crowded. The Mystery That Is Mike Magee

10

Mike Magee started his career with the Metrostars with a ton of promise heaped onto his shoulders. Before entering the 2003 MLS Super Draft, he tried his hand in Europe with many top club teams. When the attention wasn't there, he turned his sights on MLS, and Metro saw an opportunity to snatch a diamond in the rough.

All The Bull: 7/14

+ Jorge Rojas is in camp with the team, as are Pietravallo, Cichero and Jimenez. All would like this weekends Galaxy game to be their debut, but none can be confirmed. I guess they have 4 days of training to prove their worth.

+ George Welcome is in camp as well.

Another Loss, Another Signing: Gabriel Cichero

4

So this theory has gone from a comical hypothetical to a head slapping reality: Every Bulls loss seems to result in some International signing.

This weeks band aid is Gabriel Cichero. Cichero will be with us through the end of the year, and has an option year for 2009. ABN in Bolivia broke the story yesterday.

Overhaul Victim: Sinisa Ubiparipovic

6

Beneath all the recent excitement from the fans about the new signings lies the tremors of Red Bull players, quaking in their boots. Paycuts are on their way. Jobs may very well be lost. And everyone knows it.

Its in this vain that I would like to present to your our first overhaul victim: Sinisa Ubiparipovic.

Osorio Ready to Chop Heads

3

So many have had their chance to claim a starting spot with this years squad and have fallen well short. Injuries and mishaps have been abundant, creating potential opportunities everywhere. Believe me, with the present state of affairs, Coach Osorio would have welcomed a fired up bench warmer who shows a bit of class and touch on the pitch, taking a starting spot unexpectedly.

Crystal Method Lays Out Red Bulls

3

For the average Red Bulls supporter, a loss in a meaningless tournament to a bunch of unknowns would mean nothing at all. Who even knows who Lamar Hunt is anyway right? But to those who have lived through Metro disaster after disaster, a loss to a subpar USL2 franchise is yet another notch in our histories ever growing dissappointment belt.

Belated Recap: Red Bulls 1 - 0 Dallas

1

The team continued with the Osorio Mantra - it doesnt matter if you do it ugly, just so long as you win. And for yet another week, the Bulls flirted .500 and somehow managed to avoid going under.

The team featured the same 4-3-1-2 formation, which fluctuated to a 4-4-2 at times on the defense.

Patching Up The Titanic

2

Some things in life are inevitable. If you are born with less than perfect eye sight, you will squint. If your right leg is a tad shorter than your left? Expect a limp. As is the case with being a Metro Bulls follower - if you choose fandom, expect some hardship.

This season, it comes in the form of a new coach and a very thin squad.

New York Signs Columbian Striker

10
As reported earlier on Ives, the Red Bulls signed Colombian striker Oscar Echeverry. The 30-year-old forward should help added some depth to a solid attack for Juan Carlos Osorio. Plus, more importantly, he will he there for matches that Jozy Altidore will miss this summer with the national team for the Olympics and other duties. Click to continue reading...
