Echeverry Out for the Season

The speculation may now officially be laid to rest. Oscar Echeverry has been playing injured. Quite injured.

According to Brian Lewis at the NY Post, Eche will go under the knife for season ending knee surgery. This leaves the forward options extremely thin up top - with Wolyniec and Megaloudis being the top forward options (since Magee seems to be considered a midfielder now adays).

Through 3 games, we have had 7 relevant injuries and a red carded player in Jeff Parke.

Angel's injury not as serious as first thought, Echeverry sidelined

Red Bulls striker Juan Pablo Angel saw a nerve specialist on Thursday and the prognosis was a very good one for Angel and for the Red Bulls. An analysis of the Colombian forward's lower back and hamstring revealed that his injury is, in fact, a nerve-related injury that can be treated with a cortisone shot, and not the left hamstring strain he was first diagnosed with.

INCOMING: Oscar Echeverry to Red Bull New York (Done Deal)

Ives Galarcep is reporting that the Colombian striker has signed with the Red Bulls. Previously, in August of last year, we reported that one of our sources linked him to an MLS move, specifically to CD Chivas USA.

The Red Bulls have bolstered their forward crop by signing Colombian striker Oscar Echeverry.

The 30-year-old forward is expected to step in and push for starts and is seen as the team's main cover for Jozy Altidore, who is expected to miss several matches.
