Tought One

The last-second goal is always a tough one to swallow, but it's now halftime of the 180-minute game. Watch next Saturday on HDNet or Metro Sports at 6:30 p.m. CT live from Columbus. Absolutely great goal from Davy.

WHAT A WIN!

1
Amazing. That's the only way to describe. Claudio Lopez was simply fantastic tonight, as was the rest of the team. We outshot SJ 23-7. What a touching moment with Kerry Zavagnin before the match. Too bad we didn't score earlier so he could have come on toward the end. Check out the quotes and notables from tonight:

Post-Game Notes and Quotes

Big win tonight in KCK, as we picked up a vital three points toward the final playoff spot. We're currently double and triple checking all the permutations, but it looks like we'll occupy one of the final playoff spots after the weekend no matter if Colorado AND D.C. United win tomorrow. We own the group tie-breaker against DC, RSL and NY, teams we COULD end up tied with after the weekend. Click to continue reading...

So a win would have put us into the final playoff spot, but we'll take the point against a strong Chicago team. We're currently one point behind Colorado and Real Salt Lake for the final playoff spot and two points behind New York for 4th in the East. Playoffs are certainly within reach with some strong results over the final three games, but obviously nothing is assured or easy. Click to continue reading...

Tough Loss, Good Effort

1
We looked good for long stretches but couldn't get that final goal (though the foul call certainly didn't help) to pull back level with Chivas USA. After big wins for Real Salt Lake and Colorado Rapids, the East isn't assured of five playoff teams anymore. Read the last sentence from the press release to see how things stack up now. BIG WIN!

How about that golazo from Davy Arnaud?? Talk about a long-ronge bomb. The win puts us back into the mix for the final playoff spot, just four points behind D.C. United (who tied FC Dallas 2-2). Check out some notables from the match and the post-game quote sheet.

Happy Tuesday

Wow, what a crazy holiday Monday in the world of international soccer. Man City gets a new owner and promptly outspends Roman Abromavich and Chelsea for Brazilian star Robinho. Man United goes ahead with the purchase of Dimitar Berbatov from Tottenham, allowing them to finalize two other signings and take a ManU player in on loan. Click to continue reading...

Crazy Tie on ESPN!

Wow that was a nutzo game. I have to admit to pumping my fist and screaming while taking notes for the press release. Good thing I wasn't in a press box at the time, that is generally frowned upon. Here are some notables from last night's game...enjoy.

Notables From RSL Match

1
Well, we got a point, so that's a plus. Scoring on Davy's first-half crossbar job or Kerry's last minute blast would have made the evening VERY nice. Hartman was great in goal, tying a season high with seven stops on the night. On a personal note, good job to Davey B. on the Metro Sports pre and post game shows. Click to continue reading...
