MLS Playoffs: And Then There Were Four

3
I seriously need to start betting. In my preview, I picked all four of the MLS Cup semifinalists (technically the Conference semifinal winners), even the big RBNY over Houston upset. Or maybe it wasn't dumb luck. Maybe I caused all of this. I actually think that, say, the Houston Dynamo read [.. Click to continue reading...

Looking up the table

Another win. And two goals scored? How about that. This was the first league match that KC scored two goals in since April 5. That is not good. Plain and simple. The fact the Jimmy Conrad now leads the Wizards in goals? Also not encouraging. But the three points tonight means that KC is now equal on points with New York for sixth place.

Red Bulls New York Preview

0

Three points are there for the taking tonight. Not that New York is a team of pushovers, but they are reeling right now. The game at the CAB is an opportunity to pull ourselves out of last place - well, at least draw level with NY for sixth place. As Bill Murray's character said in What About Bob, it's all about "baby steps".

Rapids Beat New York.... Can They Do It On The Road?

1
Like most teams in the MLS, the Colorado Rapids have a single win on the road this year. As Nick over at We Want Rapidman points out, the key to the Rapids doubling that total this weekend at San Jose will be scoring first. Will things for the Rapids start to come together with another win to follow-up their season high 4-0 win over hapless New York. Click to continue reading...

Red Bull New York Did Not Field a Good Soccer Team

0
Yes, DC United scored 4 goals.

Yes, Luciano Emili'gol' scored his first career hat trick.

Yes, Fred juggled the ball through the middle of the field.

But, Zachariah Wells did not post a clean sheet and is still not good enough.

Also, New York did not field an adequate team of atheletes that play soccer. Click to continue reading...

New York 1-1 Kansas City

A lot to say after this one. After watching it, I have mixed feelings over the Wizards blowing the shot at three points, having escaped with a draw, or unlucky to have missed out on a win after being a man up - and conceding then as well. All very similar yet still different reactions. It was an exciting game with action end to end.

Quick weekend preview

0

I've been away and there hasn't much going on - aside of course from what is a huge game for the Wizards in New York. Things haven't been going well at all as of late. Struggles in the offense and midfield have underlined the problems that they've had. The defense has been the lone bright spot, despite conceding four goals in the past two games.

Where'e The Beef?

3

It seems to be everywhere today; that is people having a beef with the league and the Galaxy after the New York Red Bulls traded Clint Mathis to LA for a 3rd round pick. There has been a lot of complaining by New York fans that they've lost a great player. More grumbling has been about how the league is playing favorites with Los Angeles yet again by letting them get Mathis on the cheap.

An Embarrassing Goal

7
Yes, yes Toronto FC chalked up another win at home Thursday night. And they're scoring goals again, winning 2-1. Nevertheless, how embarrassing is it that the allowed 5' 7" Dane Richards to score a goal off of a header. It's not just his height but also his slight figure that makes it baffling as to how any professional defense could allow the little guy to get in the air in a position that allowed him to nod home the ball for a goal. Tony Sanneh Signs With...

1
It looks like for the time being ex-USMNT player Tony Sanneh has signed with the Minnesota Thunder (USL-1). Sanneh has been without a team since being released by the Chicago Fire after the 2006 MLS season. Since then he's been linked with a couple MLS teams and spent time training with New York Red Bulls. Recently the Colorado Rapids traded the Chicago Fire a 4th round Superdraft pick for Sanneh's rights. Click to continue reading...
