Goal4Africa kicks off in Munich

Some of the biggest names in football have joined a campaign to raise funds for charity ahead of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa - Didier Drogba, Steven Gerrard, Samuel Eto'o Gennaro Gattuso,Michael Ballack to name a few.India's Baichung Bhutia also rubbed shoulders with all the big stars.

More Trouble for South Africa 2010

With today's news that the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth has been removed as a venue from the 2009 Confederations Cup schedule on the heels of FIFA president Sepp Blatter's comments last week, the South Africa 2010 project has lived through a bad week.

Concacaf President Jack Warner lies about meeting Nelson Mandela

Everybody's favorite scandal plagued President of Concacaf and Vice-President of FIFA Jack Warner has found himself in the middle of another lie. Mr. Warner, who is running to become Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago went to South Africa last week to meet with Nelson Mandela in hopes of scoring political points back home. However, there was a little problem with this as 'Warner did not meet Mandela after he refused to sign an agreement that the meeting would not be used for political purposes. The stars of football past & present congregated in Cape Town Wednesday to mark statesman Nelson Mandela's 89th birthday. A celebrity World XI drew 3-3 with an equally high-profile African squad at the Newlands Stadium, with players' ages ranging from the mid-20s to almost 50.

The stars traveled from all over the world to display their creaky but technically enviable skills in a match to celebrate the life of Mandela, South Africa's first black president and Nobel peace prize laureate. Click to continue reading...
