could be

0
This past weekend's game could be a turning point for the US MNT. Could be. It was just another another game against a lesser concacaf opponent. But it did set the stage for a new generation of American soccer players to lay their claim to the national team. Now will they? They could. Two games to close [. Click to continue reading...

Michael Bradley To Play in Bundesliga

2
U.S. MNT midfielder Michael Bradley, aka "MB", was dealt by his Dutch side SC Heerenveen to a newly promoted member of Germany's first division. The team's name?  Borussia Moenchengladbach. Gesundheit! I think I will just stick with "BM" rather than trying to type that again. So, MB is going to BM. Click to continue reading...

Never Too Early To Start Second-Guessing Skeletor

1
Sure, the U.S. MNT doesn't play Cuba until September 6, but like a kid a week from Christmas, I just can't help speculating as to what Santa (er, Skeletor, er, I mean Skipper Bob Bradley) will deliver to me in the starting lineup. He's checking his list (some say, twice) and soon we'll find out who has [. Click to continue reading...

Bulls Abroad : Jozy Altidore

19

The dawn of the La Liga season is upon us, and the Yellow Submarine of Villarreal is pulling up to Osasuna's dock, with a couple of dents in its mighty fascade.

Midfielder Robert Pires is out, a heavy blow for the Spanish side. But to make matters worse, their attacking duo of Rossi and Kahveci are also expected to be sidelined.

Looking to turn around their 2008 season, the Los Angeles Galaxy have turned to former U.S. Men's National Team coach Bruce Arena, who was unveiled as the team's new head coach and general manager on Monday. He will fill the roles of recently departed former GM Alexi Lalas and head coach Ruud Gullit, who left the team exactly one week ago. Click to continue reading...

the olympics mean something

0
In the next week we should get a barrage of Olympic previews. I have mixed feelings about the international ritual but the cynicism goes on the back burner for soccer, which holds my attention even through the smog marketing mayhem. I'll watch some of the television coverage of other sports thanks in large part to [. Click to continue reading...

DCU 4-1 NYRB

2
Well, it's been awhile. Sorry I haven't been posting as much lately. It's not that I've lost my passion for United (eff that, United 'til I die), it's just that...

... I have two jobs.

... I like girls, and I like dating them.

... the DCU blogosphere (let alone the MLS or USA-MNT blogospheres) is oversaturated, in my opinion. Click to continue reading...

Donovan Gets 100th Cap

0
After missing two high profile friendlies with a pulled groin (insert penis joke here, if you like), Landon Donovan took the field for the U.S. MNT on Sunday for the 100th time. It is a great accomplishment, and one LD, who is often villified both at home and definitely abroad, should be celebrated for. Click to continue reading...

US Snatches the Gold Cup, 2-1

0
Easily one of the best USA v. Mexico matches in years, arguably the best Nats performance of the Bradley era. No matter how you slice it, Bradley's got his first taste of silver and now has Copa action to wash it down with.

Yanks Abroad , Fullback, Goff, Ives, and QuarterVolley.

I'll get right into some player ratings (out of 10):

Howard - 9
Timmy has none of the calming veteran tranquility that Keller possessed but all of the passion, intensity, and drive to keep the US defense inspired 60, 70, 90 minutes into a match. Click to continue reading...
