Definitely noticed

There may have been only a few people who bothered to read all the way through the comments on my post about Toronto fans at the MLS All-Star Game. One major point of contention was whether or not very many people were actually watching the exhibition match (the implication being that it didn't matter how the fans behaved because few saw it). MLS All-Stars defeat West Ham 3-2

1

Steve Nicol coached the MLS All-Stars to victory in a back and forth affair with some great goals and the league's stars putting on what was at times an impressive display. In other words, it was exactly what you would hope for from an All-Star game.

Canadian International Dwayne De Rosario scored the game winner on a penalty kick in the 69th minute in front of a sold out crowd at BMO Field in Toronto.

"You're the Stuff" -- Canada 1 USA 0, Newark 1885

8
Last night saw American and English flags unfurled at Toronto's BMO Field for the 2008 MLS All-Star game, with nary a sight of the red and white until after our guests' anthems had been played. The home crowd, unaware of this odd little 'arrangement', vented at first by booing, then by singing the Canadian anthem over-top those of the visiting nations. Click to continue reading...

All-Star Game Recap

6
I feel as though the day after the MLS All-Star game I need to start announcing clean ups in aisle nine or something. So many stories from the game and the surrounding festivities this week. I kind of think we all underestimated just how big of an event this really truly was this year. First off, [.. Click to continue reading...

Toronto doesn't represent well

3
I've had it with the fawning over Toronto fans. At the most, I'll allow that they're better fans of their home team than of anything else, including the game itself. However, the game, the concept of the beautiful sport and believing in its worth and value, is something I hold sacred.
I don't, however, understand the point of Toronto joining an American sports league if they're going to be so freaking rude about it. Click to continue reading...

Mr. MVP to you

Mr White talks about the All-Star Game.

Blanco: I think it's nice to play with other pros of different teams. You can enjoy yourself, have fun and put on a good show for the fans.
Pablo: We've faced each other in games, Mexico versus U.S., and haven't said nice things to each other, but I've talked to him the past couple of days. Click to continue reading...

MLS All-Star Game Matchday

4

Good evening folks. I'm coming to you from BMO Field and we're less than two hours from kick-off of the 2008 MLS All-Star game between MLS and West Ham United.

The fans haven't been let in yet but I can see them stacked outside the gates. A sell-out crowd is expected tonight and it will be interesting to see how Toronto fans embrace an MLS All-Star team that may have no Canadians in the starting lineup.

Welcome to the All-Star Game - where rivalries (Chivas USA and Galaxy and TFC) are put aside as players take on the world (West Ham).

All-Star Game Preview

1
First off sorry for the long delay in posting anything today. No excuse other than laziness on my part for getting around to things today. Plus its been rather slow on the news front anyways in the league. I may dive back into some expansion discussion today, as that seemed to be the hot button [...] Click to continue reading...

West Ham United v MLS All-Stars On ESPN Tonight

18
Tonight West Ham United plays the Major League Soccer All-Star Team in Toronto, Canada. The match will be shown live on ESPN and ESPN360.com beginning at 7pm ET. I'm intrigued by this match but it's hard to get excited. West Ham is one of the most vanilla football clubs in the Premier League. The club has [. Click to continue reading...

Not a defense, just an opinion

3
I don't mind the MLS All-Star game. I realize that may not sound like a ringing endorsement of the event and it's not. I write this not to defend the league, because to me, liking the game a matter of preference, like peanut butter. If one travels around the world at all, one realizes that outside of the U. MLS Expansion: League Waiting Till MLS Cup

12
Yup, while some sites believe that MLS Commissioner Don Garber is going to announce something today about possible expansion to another city in Canada, I have received word that in his press conference he said nothing has changed in the league's expansion plans. "We're in no rush to expand at this time," said Garber. Click to continue reading...

I love YouTube. I knew it was only a matter of time before we got to see for ourselves the hoolie porn actions of the fun guys at the Columbus-West Ham friendly. FYI, gents? The “Inactive” All-Star Roster

0
You may not know this but the 18-man MLS All-Star team isn't the only list of players selected to the All-Star game each year. There is also a group of players known as "inactive" all-stars, who are considered the players who would also be all-stars if the MLS All-Star Game still had the same MLS-only format. The All-Snubbed Team

As the All-Star rosters are now official, its time to put together the group of eleven that didn't make but had a damn good reason for making it. All-Star Snubs and More

Later on today we should get the final US Olympic roster, which will more than likely mean a few All-Star slots for the MLS side will open up. Alright, here's the updated voting as it stands. I want our readers to fill out my All-Star ballot. We got eight responses last week and thus far have enough for a team. However, with the deadline a week or so away there is still time to get in more ballots.

West Ham on the docket

With apologies to former colleague Matt Zimmerman... West Ham? Is that the best MLS could do?

MLS officially announced its long-rumored All-Star game opponent Thursday as the MLS All-Stars will take on West Ham United of the English Premier League.

I'm not a fan of the All-Star game and think it should be done away with entirely but at least if it's a club like Chelsea or Celtic there is some intrigue. Click to continue reading...
