Missouri S&T's Pat McNamee (pictured against Indy in September) has been selected as the 2008 GLVC Freshman of the Year. McNamee, a goalkeeper for the Miners, posted 0.98 goals against average, a 0.846 save percentage and six shutouts in league play. He helped S&T to a 4-4-4 conference record and to a berth in the GLVC tournament.

The Drury Panthers looked like a finally tuned sports car this evening as they faced their Western neighbors. The goals were all scored from inside the six yard box as the Panthers moved the ball with pace and urgency throughout the game.

In Springfield this week there are a several games with plenty to recommend. Lot's to see outside of Springfield as well, which is also highlighted.

Wednesday - The Drury Panthers men's team host the Missouri Southern Lion's. Game time is 7 pm at Harrison Stadium and there are a full slate of local players represented on these two teams.

The Bears opened strong Friday evening, coming off of their Tournament win at New Mexico last week. Attacking with verve, they wasted no time exploiting the first opportunity to present itself.

The Springfield Demize will close out their home schedule this Thursday evening when the Des Moines Menace visit. Stephen 'Cody' Reinberg (Drury 2008) has played every minute of every game this year on defense for the Menace and Marco Cherisma has played in seven games, while dealing with injuries.

Despite taking an early lead on a 6th minute goal by Brett Thomas, from Danny Foerster, the Demize once again fell on a late goal by an opponent. The team played a man down from the 21st minute when Ous Senghore was given a second yellow, and the resultant red card ejection, for a hand ball in the box.

As the weather has warmed up, so it seems has the Menace offense. Marco Cherisma (Drury Panthers) got the first goal of the game in the 3rd minute, added a second in the 45th minute and was part of a seven goal onslaught Saturday night in Des Moines.

The Demize will return to action Thursday when they host the KC Brass at Cooper Soccer Complex.

Opening night for Springfield's Professional Development League (PDL) team will be Mother's Day weekend, and the start of the girls District playoffs. Saturday May 10th they will host the Colorado Rapid's U23, with Lance Parker (MSU) in goal for the Rapids very likely.

The KC Brass visit twice, the first time May 22nd, just two days after the Class 3 Sectional that is traditionally held at Lake Country Soccer as well.
