Chopra ignites passionless Wear-Tees Derby

1
Michael Chopra's two goals in the final ten minutes are enough to see off Middlesbrough 2-0 at the Stadium of Light.

A game that was more frantic than metered, this was a game that took a long time for anything to build. Yes both sides had plenty of chances (per Soccernet, 21 for Sunderland, 18 for Middlesbrough), but not many tested either Craig Gordon or Ross Turnbull. Click to continue reading...

Sunderland Football: Keano's proving a slippery Black Cat as Tottenham are stunned

So Sunderland football and the FA Premier League do mix! Roy Keano is beginning to show signs of not only being a fierce man motivator, but a real canny mover in the transfer market as well.

His Sunderland football side has been beefed up with proven Premiership players this year, and boy does it show, and with Anton Ferdinand another likely arrival you really can't see Sunderland and Keano boys struggling in the Premiership this year. Click to continue reading...

Roy Keane is a man on a mission and won't rest until he has a squad teeming with rejects from other Premier League clubs. He has bled Tottenham dry this summer, looting Chimbonda, Malbranque and Tainio, snatched Diouf from Bolton, snared Cisse from Marseille and now there's another striker making ... Tainio’s gone, brings a tear to my eye

1
Teemu Tainio has completed his move to Sunderland. While he didn't exactly set the world alight while at Tottenham, I always felt he gave 100% and was willing to play out of position for the good of the team.

Of all the players on the fringe of the first team, I think I'd always want him in the side before anyone else. Click to continue reading...

Our quarterback, Tom Huddlestone, is back for this one after completing a three match ban. There are no real injury worries, Malbranque is suspended though, but Ramos could rest key players with the visit of Arsenal in the 2nd leg of the Cup Semi Final on Tuesday.

Sunderland are without Ross Wallace who is missing for the rest of the season with damaged knee ligaments as well as Higginbotham, Leadbitter and Etuhu. Click to continue reading...

Tottenham vs. Arsenal: Match Review

3
Two stunning goals from Cesc Fabregas and Emanuel Adebayor helped Arsenal to overcome a 1-0 deficit and beat Tottenham 3-1 at White Heart Lane. Arsene Wenger opted for a different line-up than I expected, opting to play Abou Diaby and Mathieu Flamini in the midfield alongside Fabregas and Alex Hleb. The defense was as expected, Kolo Toure and Gilberto at centre-back, with Gael Clichy on the left Click to continue reading...
