1

petke might be the person who most comes to mind to fans of the club when you talk about new york players, the others being cleetus and angel. Click to continue reading...

parke no longer a red bull

0
Image by Getty Images via Daylifeit was an bad way to go after such a great season, but jeff parke is no longer a new york red bull any more.

this season saw parke move up in more ways than one: he is right at the top in the number of games played for the new york club ever (second all-time), and he became a regular starter and dependable central defender. Click to continue reading...

6
This comes to us courtesy of the Newark Star-Ledger:

Conway and Parke last week became the first players in Major League Soccer history to be suspended for violating the league's Substance Abuse and Behavioral Health Policy. Both players received 10-game suspensions and were fined 10 percent of their annual salary. Click to continue reading...

Was Thursday the worst day in Red Bulls/MetroStars history?

5

As far as nightmares go, Thursday has to be about as scary a day as any Red Bulls fan could have imagined.

With the Red Bulls struggling for their playoff lives, the team's starting goalkeeper and best defender are suspended for the rest of the season (and part of next season).

Doping Comes to MLS

2
Wow, what a day. First match-fixing in England and now substance abuse in MLS. No, seriously. Seems two New York Red Bulls players - keeper Jon Conway and defender Jeff Parke - have tested positive for androstatriendione (ATD) and boldenone metabolites. Both substances are on the MLS banned list, and both players have been fined 10% [. Click to continue reading...

Conway, Parke Suspended For Substance Abuse

1

Brian Lewis at the NY Post Blog reports Jon Conway and Jeff Parke have both been suspended 10 games as per MLS Drug Policy. They ingested some over the counter drugs that contain both androstatriendione (ATD) and boldenone metabolites. I may not be a pharmacist, but anything that ends with an "o-n-e" should be a sign for any pro player to RUN.

The Best Superdraft Picks by Draft Position (#34-112 posted)

9
There have been plenty of articles over the years about the best Superdraft steals in MLS history. I'm sure everyone knows by now that Jeff Parke was the last pick of the 2004 draft, or that Jonathan Bornstein was a 4th rounder. Steve Davis gave us his top ten back in January at Soccernet in a nice piece. Click to continue reading...

That Wasn’t Supposed To Happen: RBNY 4 - Rapids 5

6

Two come from behind goals to tie the game, one goal for the lead, and the home result? Zero points. Ouch.

Last year, Bruce Arena was highly criticized for his inability to field a consistent squad week in and week out. Coach Osorio is beginning to get an earful for the same.

Giving Colorado The New York Cheer: RBNY / Rapids Preview

2

CURRENT SITUATION

The Bulls find themselves six points behind Chicago, and two over DCU. In this pivotal playoff chase, the Bulls, on paper, have the safest challenge of the above teams this week, facing an underachieving and unstable Colorado side. United finds themselves on the road against a resurgent Dallas squad.

Red Bulls Preview: Game 22 at Scum

2
The Red Bulls will finally be injury free when New York takes the field vs. DC United on Saturday night at RFK (7:30p, FSC). The Red Bulls have lifted themselves into the playoff mix by picking up nine points at home over the last three Sundays, but if New York is to solidify its hold on a playoff spot, RBNY must figure out how to get the maximum points on the road. three wins in a row!

0
Image by goddam via Flickr ladies and gentlemen, we have a soccer team in new york.

three games at home, three solid wins. a month ago, this would have been thought impossible, but the new york red bulls have become THE team to watch out for as the season begins to draw to a close.

with the 3-0 win over the strong houston dynamo, the red bulls put 9 quick points up on the conference board, and move into a fourth place tie with dc united - who, as it happens, is their next opponent. Click to continue reading...

Red Bulls roll past Houston

3

The forecast looked grim for the Red Bulls as they took the field against the Houston Dynamo. The Red Bulls were set to play without three key players, midfielder Jorge Rojas (visa issues), Jeff Parke (ankle injury) and Gabriel Cichero (red card suspension) and set to face a Dynamo team that hasn't lost an MLS match in more than two months.

Red Bulls Preview: Game #21 vs. Orangina

Jeff Parke is injured. Gabriel Chicero is suspended. Just how will the New York Red Bulls continue their five-match unbeaten streak against Western Division leaders Houston on Sunday (3p, TF)? Adding benched Norway-bound D Hunter Freeman may be the answer. On August 13th, Freeman signed with IK Start of Norway, though he won't join the club until January. Click to continue reading...

Innocent Elbow Leads To Defensive Questions

1

It was bad enough that I found Gabriel Cichero's elbow as innocent as a babies coo, but even the league thinks it was bad - bad enough, actually, to suspend our new stud centerback for not one, but two league games.

To quote a legendary duck,"Ah Phooey!" How that elbow deserves two games is beyond me.

The Official Seth Stammler Love-In

1
A few week's ago at an RBNY match I had a convo in the stands with the guy next to me about some hypothetical trades related to some of the current transfer rumors. The question was raised as to who would be a bigger loss for the team if they were to move on: Jeff Parke or Seth Stammler.

Without going into details of the seemingly endless beer-fueled debate, it was decided that while Jeff Parke is the heart of the clubs flawed defense and an all-around bad-ass it's Stammler and his versatility that would hurt the most. Click to continue reading...

A Very Big Win: Red Bulls 4 - 1 DC United

0

I told you the Bulls would score three didnt I?

A magnificent performance was put in by the home team, as the Bulls ran right at DC United, scoring 4 unanswered goals in a complete team victory. Juan Pablo Angel was huge as his midseason resurgance continues. Gabriel Cichero played his first game in MLS, and turned in an excellent performance, alongside Jeff Parke and Kevin Goldthwaite.

Red Bulls Preview: Game #19 vs. Scum

Let's hear it for parity. Despite a five-match league winless streak (seven straight overall), the Red Bulls are only a single point out of a playoff spot with twelve matches to play. Over the last few weeks, the club has brought in help, including Venezuelan international defender Gabriel Chicero, who played 45 minutes with New York in Wednesday's schooling by Barcelona. Red Bulls Preview: Game #18 at Shakes

2
Last week, the New York Red Bulls let two points slip away in injury time vs. LA at home. Sunday afternoon, New York will have a golden opportunity to escape last place in the East when they play the West's bottom-feeder, San Jose (3-9-5), at Buck Shaw Stadium in Santa Clara (3p, MSG+).

The last time out, the New York offense was invigorated by the addition of midfielder Jorge Rojas, who assisted on both Red Bull goals in 2-2 draw with the Galaxy. Click to continue reading...

One Mistake Away from a Win: Red Bull 1 - 1 Chivas

1

A physical battle in the midfield, and a hard fought road performance is all for naught on one UGLY play.

Kevin Goldthwaite was on the far left side. Parke was taking central, but was trotting slightly forward. Jon Conway was standing by in nets.

Chivas USA Post-Game

0

The one saving grace of a game like this is that you can always count on the ever-quotable Jesse Marsch to put things in perspective with brutal honesty:

"I can only imagine what that game looked like," he said. "It must have been painful to watch because it was painful to play in."

Yes, Jesse it was.

Red Bull New York at Chivas USA

0

It's the ( 5-4-4) Red Bulls against (5-6-2) Chivas USA on a lovely night for soccer at Victoria Street.

Chivas USA Coach Preki has named a 3-4-3 formation, although indications are we'll see a 4-4-2 with Jonathan Bornstein (who is listed as a forward) actually playing at left back.

Brad Guzan is in goal as usual, while Jim Curtin is presumably drafted into the middle of defense alongside Claudio Suarez, leaving Bobby Burling at right back.

Belated Recap: Red Bulls 1 - 0 Dallas

1

The team continued with the Osorio Mantra - it doesnt matter if you do it ugly, just so long as you win. And for yet another week, the Bulls flirted .500 and somehow managed to avoid going under.

The team featured the same 4-3-1-2 formation, which fluctuated to a 4-4-2 at times on the defense.

well, this certainly seemed to be a much different team that what we've seen recently. the new york red bulls fought a hard game on the road against the leading mls team and walked out with a tie at 1-1.

however, we really should have walked out of there with three points, as we had the game in hand until the 80th minute when we started falling back into a shell. Click to continue reading...

GAMEPLAN for GAME TWO (or - The Blogger thinks he is a coach)

9

KEEP THIS IN MIND

There really is alot to take into account going into Gilette this weekend.

First off, the New England team we saw exiting Giants Stadium with a draw is not the team we will see in Gilette. Thanks, once again, to the horrible playoff rules of this league, the first leg of the home and home is render meaningless, since all the visiting squad has to do is pack the box, play defensive football, and hope for the best.

A Tale of Two Halves . . . .

6

YUP. ITS A TIE FOLKS.

So much for pouring on the pressure.

That lasted one half. The first one.

And clearly, the second belonged to New England (at least, quality goal scoring opportunity wise).

Now, with a tie heading into Gilette, our backs are truly against the wall.

What is it about us playing against the Revodouchers?
