Hall of Tradition [video, too!]

Yesterday, we launched the newly revamped D.C. United Hall of Tradition. Current members include legends John Harkes and Marco Etcheverry and front office staffer Betty D'Anjollel who was an instrumental part of the club's early years.

This year, the Hall of Tradition will grow by one more, as either Jeff Agoos or Richie Williams will be enshrined.

Remaking the Red Bulls

2

Put a pair of Vulcan ears on New York sporting director Jeff Agoos. He uses relentless Spock-like logic to describe the Red Bulls' approach toward shaping up the roster this season.

When Jozy (Altidore) left, we knew we had a big hole up front, but we knew we needed to get someone to get Juan (Pablo Angel) the ball.

U.S. World Cup Qualifying and Chivas USA Gameday

1

Apologies for the late blogging since I am somewhat under the weather today (and, no, that's not because of all the soccer on TV).

Still, there is a lot.

First up at noon on Fox Soccer Channel is David Beckham and England taking on the Czech Republic in London.

Then at 7 p.

Forgo The Quality Of Lumber News

Is Michael Orozco the new Jeff Agoos?

~and~

Kasey Keller has signed with Seattle Sounders FC for next spring. See MLS Expansion section for details.

~and~

New England showed that the US Open Cup is DEFINITELY NOT a priority for them this season as they rested nearly all of their regulars in DC last night (only Shalrie Joseph & Adam Cristman played) and got whooped for it. Click to continue reading...

The Unsigned Hype That We've All Been Waiting For

2
I am not versed on the particulars of the MLS 'discovery' process but I would think that identifying talent as early as possible before another team does is pretty much the name of the game. So if I was Jeff Agoos, Monday morning would find me posted up out front of MLS HQ, smoking and drinking coffee waiting for them to open the doors, ready to file discovery papers on what is currently a fetus. Strength is relative

1
I didn't write the headline to my article about the Olympic roster.

Not that I object to it per se, but I do find it a bit of a paradox, because one of my main points in the article was that the U.S. didn't send the strongest team they could have to the Olympics. Obviously, World Cup qualifying was an issue that conflicted, as did the demands of club teams, especially when it came to one Landon Donovan. Click to continue reading...

A Goose in the press box

Saturday night's match at Home Depot Center brought about several former US World Cup veterans. Before the match, I went to grab my seat and sitting a few spots down from me was Jeff Agoos. Who will run the Red Bulls? My unusual suspect

0

Things have gotten very quiet on the Red Bulls front as far as the club's search for a new managing director goes. Nobody is saying a thing as we wait for officials in Salzburg to annoint a new team leader now that Marc deGrandpre has left to return to his preferred field of soft drink sales.

Where'e The Beef?

3

It seems to be everywhere today; that is people having a beef with the league and the Galaxy after the New York Red Bulls traded Clint Mathis to LA for a 3rd round pick. There has been a lot of complaining by New York fans that they've lost a great player. More grumbling has been about how the league is playing favorites with Los Angeles yet again by letting them get Mathis on the cheap.
