Guerrero and Honduras advance

0

United midfielder/defender Ivan Guerrero earned his 75th cap and played the entire 90 minutes during Honduras' 1-0 victory over Mexico last night.

Los Catrachos have not lost at home to Mexico in over 20 years and last night proved to be no exception. The game's sole goal came in the 52nd minute, after Mexico defender Ricardo Osorio deflected the ball off the crossbar and into his own net after a corner kick. Click to continue reading...

Trade Grades: The Best and Worst From 2008

5
The past couple of days got me thinking, this year we've seen so many trades between the clubs. Some moves have paid off and others have been more of a waste than anything. I felt like today was a good day to look back at the moves that have paid off and the moves that [...] Click to continue reading...

When Plans Come Together

0
As I referred to in the match reaction for DC United's Open Cup win last night, I'm really looking forward to the potential combination between Martinez and Guerrero on the left flank. From the locker room after the game, this Martinez quote seems to indicate that things are progressing nicely in that particular direction. Click to continue reading...

2

We'll announce officially later today that Ivan Guerrero has been called up by his native Honduras to participate in the team's World Cup qualifier against Mexico on August 20 (meaning he'll miss United's game in New England against the Revolution). He will report to the National Team following United's August 16 game against Chicago and return shortly after the August 20 game.

Welcome the Warrior!

2
The transfer window has swung open, accompanied by movement both between MLS and parts foreign and within the league itself. DC has busied itself by offloading Sudamericanos and importing Earthquakes. The latest to land on the VDub bulls-eye is Ivan Guerrero, the left-sided midfielder and defender who was one of Chicago's key players prior to Osorio's arrival in Fire-land and his subsequent Click to continue reading...

Video: Introducing Ivan Guerrero

D.C. United newest player, Ivan Guerrero joined United today for his first training session. With several injuries still holding players out and Gonzalo Martinez unavailable due to last game's red card, the left-sided player may very well be in the starting lineup tomorrow evening against the Wizards.

Sifting the RSS Mountain

1
Howdy, all! I've returned from the sea and sun, through seemingly endless construction, toxic highway spills, and poor road signage to confront a mighty RSS backlog and an assemblage of video highlights. I'm sifting through it all and promise a belated Dogpile as well as some reaction to DC roster moves later today or early tomorrow. Click to continue reading...

Guerrero to DC

2
Oh well. Someone had to go. Unfortunate that we could only get a partial allocation out of it, but I imagine thats more than we could have gotten from OG Denton. This gets us aligned with roster requirements, but it wouldn't surprise me if we are not quite done yet. OK, that last [...] Click to continue reading...

TRADE: Ivan Guerrero to DC United

1
Is John Doyle the new Mo Johnston?

With all the wheelin' and dealin' the 'Quakes seem to be doing, it would appear so.

BehindTheBadge.com first broke this story earlier this morning. The Honduran left back/mid will come to DC and in exchange San Jose will get a small amount of allocation money. Click to continue reading...

We're set to announce later today that the club has acquired Ivan Guerrero from the San Jose Earthquakes for a partial allocation. Guerrero is expected to be in D.C. shortly and may very well be available for Saturday's game against the Wizards.

Able to play in either the defense or midfield, Guerrero has seen time in 14 games (13 starts) this year after being picked up by San Jose in the 2007 Expansion Draft.

More (gn)news with Gary Gnu

It seems the Quakes weren't going to let a silly little thing like the holiday weekend slow them down. There is quite a bit of news out today that should hopefully give the fans a few more reasons to stay positive about the team throughout the week. Amir Lowery and Dan Benton signed with [...] Click to continue reading...

Expansion draft results - Happy Thanksgiving

11

I've been out of town and away from the computer for the holiday weekend so I missed the expansion draft. San Jose was able to draft 10 players while I was gone. I don't have much else to say (or the energy) so I'll leave you with the list:

  • Ryan Cochrane (Houston Dynamo)
  • Clarence Goodson (FC Dallas)
  • Ned Gravaboy (Columbus Crew)
  • James Riley (New England Revolution)
  • Joe Vide (New York Red Bulls)
  • Ivan Guerrero (Chicago Fire)
  • Brain Carroll (DC United)
  • Jason Hernandez (Chivas USA)
  • Gavin Glinton (LA Galaxy)
  • Chris Pozniak (Toronto FC)

No one picked up from Kansas City Wizards, Real Salt Lake or Colorado Rapids.

Well, MLSnet.com finally posted the list of players Frank Yallop picked up for the New Model San Jose Earthquakes in today's expansion draft (and thanks to all the good people out there who forwarded the list while I was blab, blab, blabbing away in another post). Here's that list: 1. Ryan Cochrane (Houston Dynamo) 2. Click to continue reading...
