A Few Words With New Galaxy Starting Goalkeeper Josh Wicks

7

Husky-voiced Josh Wicks, the self-described Barry White of goalkeepers, who played just two halves in Hawaii, and another half in Shanghai in preseason before coming on after 45 minutes last weekend for injured starting goalkeeper Steve Cronin, talked to the assembled media today (well, OK, all two of us) about his expected start Saturday:

Q: How did coming in at half time in the New England team help before your first MLS start Saturday against Real Salt Lake?

Brandi Chastain: Geographer

3

Brandi Chastain: "We have to remember. New Zealand is a small island in the middle of the ocean, so they don't get a lot of games."

If only the Ferns moved to a bigger country, everything would be alright. If only Barack Obama as per Cokie Roberts had vacationed at Myrtle Beach instead of an exotic place like Hawaii, he would be considered American.

AYSO Games in Hawaii

For those of you who have children that participate on USYSA or US Club teams, it can be easy to forget there are other national soccer associations out there. The Roster

1
Okay - it's up! Here's the 18-woman USWNT Roster for the 2008 Olympics in Beijing. No big surprises, as far as I can tell. Aly Wagner played herself back into the mix after a long, injury-ridden hiatus - and it would be awesome to see her fulfill her potential on the Olympic [...]SHARETHIS.addEntry({ title: "The Roster", url: "http://www. Joke of the Day...

A biker was riding along a California beach when suddenly the sky clouded above his head and, in a booming voice, the Lord said, ' Because you have TRIED to be faithful to me in all ways, I will grant you one wish.'

The biker pulled over and said, 'Build a bridge to Hawaii so I can ride over anytime I want. Click to continue reading...

The Pan-Pacific Championship panned

6
The reviews of the first ever Pan-Pacific Championship are in and we've got a flop on our hands. Even with David Beckham and hometown hero Brian Ching on the pitch, the combined attendance for the two double-headers was a mere 38,215. On top of that, the field turf was horrible.

So what to make of this tournament? Click to continue reading...

Osaka dominates Houston, wins Pan-Pacific title; Beckham shines in third place match

Houston 1-6 Gamba Osaka

Has Houston ever been tossed around the way they were last night against J-League Cup Champions Gamba Osaka? All over the pitch, the team looked the weaker side as Gamba's technical control combined with their lethal counter-attacks gave them the game. Brazilian striker Bare made the top defense in MLS look like amateur night with his unbelievable ability to sneak right past his mark and into one-on-one situations with Pat Onstad. LA gets dumped by Osaka, Houston smash Sydney - Pan-Pacific Championship Semifinal wrap

7
The first round of the Pan-Pacific Championship is over and if there was any surprise, it was just how poorly LA and Sydney played. Houston and Osaka put together quality performances so the final on Saturday night should be a good game.

Houston to face Sydney in Pan Pacific Championships

4
The MLS Champions finally know who they will face in the inaugural version of the Pan Pacific Championships (PPC) next week in Hawaii as Sydney FC won the right to represent the Australian A-League after they were knocked out of the playoffs this past weekend.

Sydney FC is a tough team with some quality to it, however, they are in the middle of a major roster problem as they currently have only 16-players available for the trip. Click to continue reading...
