The region lost a pair of assistant coaches with the end of the season last week. There are a lot of hard-working folks involved in this community but an area of particular significance is when recent college graduates give back by working with local high schools. Especially when they didn't play their prep soccer here.

High School Girls Update and Regional Press Coverage

It's probably self-evident, but I've received two cancellations today so far:
West Plains vs Harrison (AR) is moved to Thursday March 27th, still Varsity only and in West Plains.
Jeff City Helias vs Waynesville is moved to Thursday March 27th, still in Jeff City

On a related note, here are some recent stories in the regional papers on the Girls season:

The Waynesville Tigers, with 10 returning starters and 9 seniors, want to advance farther in the playoffs this year.

Branson Pirates Hire Dave Brenner For New Soccer Program

Send a shout out to Dave Brenner folks, the gentleman who will lead Branson into the worlds game next August when the Pirates field a boys soccer team for the first time. Dave, who will also coach the girls team that will begin play in the Spring 2009 season, joins the Pirates from the Nixa Eagles where he has been assisting Evan Palmer since the Fall of 2001.

St Louis Soccer United to Host Quincy Soccer Classic

An agreement was recently reached for the Quincy Soccer Classic and St. Louis Soccer United to partner for the 2008 event and beyond.

CoxHealth’s Athletic Advantage Introduces PEP Program For Girls

I recently spent some time with Ron Prenger and Dr Russell Bond at Cox Health being introduced to a new community program they have launched to help prevent ACL injuries in female soccer players. The Glendale Soccer website first pointed to the issue last September when webmaster Bob Jordan linked to a story in USA Today about the PEP Program developed by the Santa Monica Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Research Foundation.
