File this one under Holy Bloody Crap. Manchester City, a club that was in the third tier of English football not too long ago, is today the richest football club in the world, the fortune of their owners estimated at about $50 billion.

Manchester City have made a dramatic late deadline-day swoop for Real Madrid's Brazilian forward Robinho.

The deal to bring the 24-year-old was completed shortly before the midnight cut-off point, and he has signed a four-year contract.
