Feel-Good News/Funny Transfer Story

6
It seems that headlines of athletes and other stars screwing up are often above the fold but praise of good efforts are buried near the back of the paper. Here's a story from a few weeks back from a mother of an autistic child who participated in a clinic put on by Jimmy Conrad, Kerry Zavagnin, Davy Arnaud and Ryan McMahen. Credit where it's due

The Spanish goalador is sure to get much closer attention this season from Premier League opponents - but Keane's presence up front should ensure that a 'stop Torres, stop Liverpool' strategy does not become the simple mantra of Liverpool's opposition.Bill Shankly once famously advised his number seven Kevin Keegan to just go out there and drop hand grenades all over the pitch.

David Bentley to Tottenham

4
As its been said many times "football is a funny old game". So now we have David Bentley moving to Spurs with money raised from the sale of Robbie Keane to Liverpool. At the same time we also have Tottenham with 2 highly rated young right midfield / wings in David Bentley and Aaron Lennon, but needing another forward to replace Keane and/or possibly Berbatov, and at Liverpool we have 3 quality forwards in Torres, Kuyt, and Keane, but needing a right midfield / wing of a higher quality then what they currently have. Funny Soccer Tweets

3
I've been using social networking sites more and more, and finding some rather funny stuff. I use a great Twitter client called TweetDeck, which allows you to search the public timeline for certain keywords so you can monitor tweets with certain words. Very cool. Well, I had to share a rather funny tweet that scrolled [. Click to continue reading...

Happy Monday/Reserve Game

0
Greetings Kansas City, it's good to be back. After a 0-1-1 trip to Columbus, sleeping on a friendly bed last night was nice. The reserve squad tied Columbus yesterday morning 1-1 on a first-half free-kick goal from Ryan Pore. Pore stayed behind in Ohio with family after the game and had a small contingent at the reserve match. Click to continue reading...

Rando Thoughts

Greetings everyone, I wanted to give a shout-out to the kids of Plaza Middle School, Heroes Team who were lucky enough to hear a career-day speech from Hillcrest Road today. Hopefully they were able to take something from the talk; I certainly enjoyed myself. One of the kids from Plaza will be a special guest blogger at some point in the season, so be prepared for that. What Can Happen When You Follow the 5 Alternatives

0

Alright, so I gave you a list of 5 Great Alternatives to Writing a College Paper. Well, I used a few of them. Here's what happens when you take the Alternatives too seriously...

I had to leave for a trip at 2 on Friday. The English paper I had been putting off had to be e-mailed by midnight.

Celebration Naming/Some Good Star Articles

0
Hey everyone, thanks a million for all the suggestions about what to name our newest favorite celebration. I don't think the Digital Crawl is coming back, but if you guys tell Jimmy that's what you want the next time he nets two, he just might oblige. We'll whittle those down to five choices and post another poll on the site. Click to continue reading...

We Want Your Help

0
Alright guys, you were at the stadium. You saw the goals. You saw the leap--or the jump--or whatever it was. Now we want your help naming it. When Jimmy Conrad and later Scott Sealy removed themselves from the playing field and nearly entered fandom in the Cauldron, what were they doing? If it were after a Green Bay Packers touchdown, it would be called Lambeau Leap. Click to continue reading...

Don't Make Big D Angry

Ok...

I have to add a disclaimer to that last entry. In "5 Great Alternatives to Writing a Paper," I may have encouraged you to push aside homework that should be a priority. So I have a few points to add:

- A student-athlete has to be a student first.

5 Great Alternatives to Writing a College Paper

While the particular paper to be avoided is for my freshman level English Comp class, these can be applied to any paper or project that you desire to avoid like the Plague.

1) Write a blog entry.
-This is a prime example. I don't want to write the English paper, so I am writing this ABOUT not writing my English paper.

"Streaker" Exclusive/New Wizards Fan

8
Borrowed from SF at The Offside Rules.

When Hillcrest Road saw Ms. Tiffany May of Tampa "streak" across the pitch at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa during last week's USA-Honduras Olympic qualifying match, it had to commend her courage and passion for the sport. Then when Soccer by Ives and The Offside Rules immortalized her in soccer blogville, it became apparent she was the newest fan sensation in the sport. Click to continue reading...

Training This Morning/Funny Stuff

0
Training went well again today, this time under sunny and windy skies. The team started with split drills with the defenders working on their shape and attacking players their shooting. Then, the players came together for full-field a 11 v 11 match. The only goal was scored by Ivan Trujillo and assisted by Carlos Marinelli. Click to continue reading...
