RailHawks claim six points and one trophy in two days to end season (Triangle Offense)

2
A light but compact crowd gathered at Bull McCabes in Durham on Friday night to watch the USL-1 Carolina RailHawks take on the Charleston Battery. It came as a surprise to some at the bar that such significant emotion could be generated for somthing that they did not heretofore know existed.
Yet, there it was, a handful of grown men screaming with arms raised when Matt Watson pulled the midfield lever that sent Hamed Diallo racing through to goal in the 8th minute. Click to continue reading...

Big Mac to the Big Apple, with a Golden Cupcake

Atlanta, say goodbye to Macoumba Kandji, at least for a little while. He's on loan to the New York Red Bulls through the end of the 2008 season, with an option to buy his contract. The transfer is rumored to be between $150K-200K. This gives New York a bit of time to see Kandji up close and decide if he's worth the hefty transfer fee. Click to continue reading...

Madonna versus Bundesliga

1
Eintracht Frankfurt were supposed to be play Karlsruhe on Friday night in the Bundelsiga. But that didn't happen, and it's all Madonna's fault. Actually it's Madonna's fans' fault. Madge performed at Frankfurt's Commerzbank-Arena on Tuesday night and apparently her fans trampled the grass, presumably dancing a little too enthusiastically to "Like a Virgin" et al. Charleston roadtrip next Friday

The 2008 Southern Derby will be decided next Friday night in Charleston.
With a win or a tie against the Battery on Friday, September 19th, Carolina will retain the Southern Derby Cup for the second straight year. A loss would give Charleston their 3rd title.
Last year, a number of RailHawks supporters made the roadtrip down to Blackbaud Stadium to support our boys and saw Connally Edozien turn in the first hattrick in RailHawks history in route to capturing the Cup. Click to continue reading...

A very Finnish ‘riot’

I live in the most violent country in Western Europe. Homicides are more common here than anywhere else that wasn't run by communists until the early 90s. Thunder, Aztex Kits — Separated At Birth?

2
Watching the Carolina Railhawks playing the Minnesota Thunder Friday night (beating them 2-1), I was struck by a kind of déjà vu when I saw Minnesota's home jerseys. Notice any similarities?

That grainy picture on the left is a screenshot of the USLlive video feed, because oddly enough, I couldn't find photos anywhere on the web of that Thunder jersey. Click to continue reading...
