10 Things We Learned in the Premier League

3
1. We're going to need more free alcohol Bolton gave away 1,000 pints of pre-match beer to try and encourage some more vocal home support against Blackburn. Nice idea, but it takes more alcohol than that to make a drab goalless draw look entertaining. Unless one lucky fan got their hands on all one thousand pints [. Click to continue reading...

Bolton Wanderers Giving Away Free Beer

0
Bolton are trying to draw people back to the Reebok Stadium and get a little more atmosphere at home games. And we all know the not so secret formula: alcohol + fans = singing. So what better way than free beer? Before Saturday's game against Blackburn, supporters will be able to go to a Bolton organized [. Click to continue reading...

Newcastle to be Bill Gates latest philanthropic endeavour

2

If he buys it will be under the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation to improve the fans health in the toxic environs of St James Park. An environmental impact statement on how Mike Ashley and Dennis Wise are affecting the physical and mental well of the locals is being prepared. Bill and Melinda will use that to talk down the price.

Red Bulls finally get their stadium

9

Okay - so the title is probably a bit mis-leading. Everyone knows that Red Bull Park (or whatever it will be know as) is being built as I sit and type right now. I just came across a link to a webcam - you can watch the progress of the construction here:

All the star, all the time readings

1
Well, well, Don Garber refers to more journalists turning out for the All-Star events this year than ever before (over 300 credentialed). I, of course, am at home. Most of all, I'm sad I missed out on so much free food. (Last year's ESPN-hosted party had a chocolate fountain and three kinds of free beer). Click to continue reading...

The Laughs Keep Coming

1 - A source told me the salary being offered to the next Under 16 coach!
2 - The Indonesian FA have a marketing department!
3 - The Jakarta Post will be doing a story about New Zealand after they sent someone to try the free food at the High Commissioner's house last night!
4 - Among the might of the New Zealand squad, a TV station and a popular weekly tabloid the only person who knew the Kiwis' agenda was some fat geezer with a lap top and a penchant for free beer! Click to continue reading...

More Free Booze, Table Soccer & Austrians

0
That's right. They're doing it big again at the Austrian Cultural Forum tomorrow night. Free beer, foosball, art and possibly some people with umlauts in their last name. Also expect appearances by a few Red Bulls regulars including David "Pimpin' Ain't Easy" Roth. Let's get it crackin' New York. Click to continue reading...

Score Goal, Get Sex

27
A couple of weeks ago now we ran a piece about an Austrian brewery offering any Austrian player who scored in the Euro a lifetime supply of free beer. Congratulations then to Ivica Vastic, I hope you are absolutely wasted right this second. We also (jokingly) suggested that we were but a stones throw away from players being offered prostitutes and the like as performance incentives too. Click to continue reading...

No Beer For You!

1

It was a big deal when Ivica Vastic finally scored Austria's first and only goal of the tourney thus far. Big deal for Austria because they were supposed to be embarrassed at home by now, but it gave them the chance to perhaps, in some unfathomable way, get through the knockouts. Big for Poland because they felt hard done by and cheated.

First-scoring Spaniard wins Hummer

So who you think it's gonna be?

Villa (left)?

Torres (right)?

I'm going with Xavi (center). That guy impresses me more every time I watch.

Anyways, the gift isn't as cool as the free beer for life thing -- which didn't work out in the end, if you didn't hear -- but still cool. Click to continue reading...

A Croat stunner in Day 6

1
I know what English fans are thinking? That should've been us beating Germany.

Turns out Croatia has a couple tricks up it's sleeve. They outplayed the group favorites up and down the field, beating Germany 2-1 on Thursday to secure a spot in the quarterfinals.

Darijo Srna scored the first after a great string of passes and Ivica Olic added a second. Click to continue reading...

Day 6 - Accutes and Carons for the Win

Holy ćow! Croatia looks strong. They beat a talented and formiđable Germany today. Croatia's sećond goal was lucky, but it in many ways it was based on luck they čreated on their own. High prešsure on Germany led to a midfield turnover that allowed Croatia to keep the ball in Germany's own enđ.

Score Goal, Get Beer

Ok so everyone knows that Austria are an appalling national outfit then, and that obviously the tournament would've been so much better and more exciting had England just been given their place out of sympathy. Anyway, an embarassed Vienna brewery has taken matters into its own hands by promising a life-long supply of free beer to any Austria player who actually manages to score a goal in the co-hosts remaining two group matches against Poland and Germany. If ever I can make fun of Oswaldo Sanchez, I will. 'Cause he's a punk.

I saw this story about him making fun of a reporter's accent.

Then just recently he was arrested.

Free Lifetime Supply of Beer = Motivation

1

Nearly everyone expected Austria to go down without a fight in this tournament. As we've said before, FIFA ranks them 92nd in the world -- 48 spots beneath the next-lowest team, fellow co-hosts Switzerland.

And yet Austria put in a surprisingly credible performance against a weaker-than-expected Croatia on Sunday, going down 0-1 only due to an early penalty.

Arsenal Have Signed Aaron Ramsey

1
Morning all. Quite surprising news this morning tells us that we have signed Cardiff's Aaron Ramsey. I don't think the deal has been finalized but it is by the BBC and they don't usually completely make up stories like some other papers and websites. It's 5 million quid, straight up, according to reports and comments from Cardiff. Click to continue reading...
