The Sky Blues have spent every season since then in the Championship, so close to England's top flight, but yet so far. TV Guide - Watching Football (Soccer) Stateside

1
According to this Wikipedia entry, Fox Sports World, now Fox Soccer Channel (FSC), launched in late 1997. This was the beginning, as far as I know, of the current availability of decent Football programming in the US. I got the channel about 2 years after its launch, and from that time, it's had great coverage of England's Premier League - Arsenal and Manchester United in particular. Click to continue reading...

Manchester City may be at the beginning of embarking upon a financial crisis that has never before been seen in English football, but that doesn't mean that they're not full of imaginative ideas for the future of the game. City's "Executive Chairman" (yes, I know, I don't know what an "Executive Chairman" is either) Gary [. Click to continue reading...

Let's all laugh at Arsenal

1
After all, they have been doing plenty of laughing at us since the weekend.

Apparently, Arsenal could have signed Arshavin but they couldn't afford his wages.

According to Arshavin's agent Dennis Lachter, Arshavin wanted just too much money.

"Wenger was serious about buying Arshavin," said Lachter in the Daily Express. Click to continue reading...

Paul Ince: The 'Guv'ner' or the Pretender?

1
As a proud United fan for many years, I have witnessed a great number of very talented players come through the Old Trafford doors. I have also seen a select few of these players become managers. Roy Keane, Mark Hughes, Steve Bruce, and now Paul Ince, to name a few. To be honest, I never expected Ince to delve into football management's long corridors. Click to continue reading...

The FA Cup starts here

0
We begin with an apology.

When we said yesterday that these were exciting times and that various football competitions were going on around the world except for one which was about to start (i.e. the Premier League), we were being slightly economical with the truth.

Not that these aren't exciting times, etc, etc - it was just the bit at the end about 'one competition remaining that hadn't exploded into life yet'. Click to continue reading...

Chelsea captain John Terry believes Manchester United have reached their peak

Chelsea captain John Terry has issued fierce statement of intent to rivals Manchester United by insisting his club will raise the bar this season, arguing United have peaked.

Premiership Preview–3. Chelsea

1
Chelsea has not finished outside the top two in five seasons, a span in which they're averaging a mind-blowing 88.5 points a season. They've won two Premiership titles, two Carling Cups, an FA Cup, and, for what it's worth, a Community Shield, during this stretch. They have an impressive, slightly overrated in my opinion [.
