Champions League Matchday 4 Roundup with Video Highlights

1
Note: When we do our searches for the ever-elusive game highlights, we have to take what we can get. (And we do it with much gratitude to the people who manage to evade the Video Police and host them.) But the ones we find are not always perfect. There's a good chance that [...] Click to continue reading...

At The Turn: Who Needs to Win

To use a golf analogy, the teams in the group stage of the Champions League make the turn today and tomorrow with the completion of the first three games of the group stage. And while it's early, for some teams, it's make-or-break time. Group by group, here's an analysis of who needs to win: Group A: ROMA Needs [. Click to continue reading...

10 Things We Learned From Champions League Matchday 2

6
4 seeds are the new 3 seeds; or, Transylvanians, Cypriots & Belarusians are legit. BATE were very fortunate to be eying a blonde Austrian rather than a turban-sporting Italian in net, but they were never predicted to sneak a deserved point. Cluj proved their Roma win was no fluke, even if they used a vastly different [. Click to continue reading...

Draws galore but Bayern Munich and Juventus return with wins

0
Just a quick editorial note to start, I had hoped to complete my Group Previews before Matchday 1 but that was not the case. I will still be pushing those out, hopefully finish before Matchday 2 hits. Now, on to last night's action. After absences last season for perennial Champions League participants Bayern Munich (pictured at [. Click to continue reading...

Dynamo Chicken in Kiev.

2
Well, too chicken to play fucking football. Cheating pricks. The Arsenal have walked away from the Lobanovsky Stadium this evening with one solitary point after a 1-1 draw with Dynamo Kyiv. The draw means that Arsene Wenger's poor record in Eastern Europe continues, although Le Boss is not responsible for the underwhelming result. Click to continue reading...

Kyiv v Arsenal: Song Replaces Eboue In Starting XI

1
Arsenal midfielder Alexander Song has been drafted into the starting line-up ahead of tonights Champions League group stage tie against Dynamo Kyiv. The versatile Cameroonian replaces Emmanuel Eboue - who sustained a knock in the 4-0 triumph over Blackburn on Saturday - and should 'bulk' up what looks like a physically weak midfield. Weekend Update - Champions League Preview

0

Another weekend saw another good result. Hard to find a lot of things to complain about after taking down Blackburn, thanks to Theo, Adebayor, and RvP - among others. Nice to see Walcott remain fairly grounded after his hat trick against Croatia. His mazy run set up van Persie's goal, while Adebayor netted a treble.

What do Werder Bremen, Villareal, Atletico Madrid, Panathinaikos, PSV Eindhoven, Marseille, Dynamo Kyiv, Celtic and Fenerbahce have in common (hint: the answer is not "They're all in the Champions League group stage which starts today")? CL Draw: We’ll Take It

4

The UEFA Champions League draw was rolled out Thursday, and Uncle Phil should be fairly pleased with the outcome. Arsenal’s Wenger: United, Liverpool and Chelsea Should Be Kicked Out Of Europe

3
"Who put the ball in Arsenal's net? All of fucking Europe," used to be the chant sung, following Arsenal's poor record in Europe. When United won it 1999, Wenger's team couldn't get out of the group stages, with Lens and Dynamo Kyiv finishing above them. It was the same story the following season, with Barcelona [. In his Chelsea debut, the highly-touted Swede signed by Chelsea last December found himself on the scoresheet less than a minute into the Blues' tournament opener with River Plate. Mitrovic drove home a penalty, which he had won by latching onto an errant loose ball just 10 seconds into the game.
